I view the life I was handed as better than many but not any where close to a decent one. I have average looks and smarts, my family was more acquaintances than blood relatives. Or not even acquaintances. I work at Ross to have some money so I can eat or buy anything that I needed. My parents didn't bother to remember they have a child to care for, as I tried my best to forget I was related to them.
They themselves didn't even act like a family. My father was either working, in construction, or out with friends drinking. My mother more interested in the harder drugs and the men that sold them to her, or any man for that matter. The job chose for herself is not too shocking, a stripper. Treasure, is her name at work and outside of it as well. She has to be the one who came up with it, because anyone that has been with her for even a moment knows she is anything but. As for using it in her personal life she thinks her real one Lucy is to 'oldish'. Her word not mine.
I was like my father in the avoid home department. Either at work or hanging out with my best friends. If I had to be at home, I had a good and expensive pair of headphones to listen to music. It helps to drone out the sounds I didn't want to inquire about coming from my parents room.
My body slamming onto the hard concrete floor woke me up. Grunting I wrapped my arms protectively around my stomach.
"Where the fuck is my breakfast?" Roy, my father, growled. He came around the bed that he just shoved me off of to kick my thigh.
I whimpered and curled myself into a ball. "I'm sorry. I'll start making it now" I grasped squeezing my eyes shut hoping that would somehow take me somewhere else.
He didn't say anything, just gave me another kick before leaving. The chill from the concrete helped sooth my sore body. Pushing the pain to the back of my mind I shoved myself off the floor. I knew if I didn't get his food on the table soon then I would have an even more painful morning. I quickly went upstairs and started making the breakfast that I have been ordered to make and have ready at five a.m. everyday. Any later I get the treatment from earlier, sometimes even worse.
I made sure that they had their drinks and food neatly placed on the dirty kitchen table before I ran back downstairs. They made the cold, dirty, and dark basement as my room. Since they view me as a nuisance I might as well live like a rat. I didn't mind, I like feeling separated from them. I had a small bathroom in my basement which also makes it even better. It keeps me from having to go upstairs for anything but leaving this hellhole.
I got ready for school as fast as I could, which for me isn't long at all. Pulling on a hoodie, jeans, socks, and a old warn pair of converse is my daily routine. I stopped at the doorway of my bathroom. Turning I stared at my blacked out mirror. I had no desire to see myself. To see this weak and pathetic excuse of a human. I needed to be reminded why I didn't want to feel, why I shouldn't. Turning off the lights I ran out of that house like it was on fire barely managing to grab my backpack on my way out.
Of course I wasn't allowed a car and had to hide the fact I have a cell phone. I walk everywhere but I don't mind since it helps me free my mind before I have to interact with other humans.
Stepping off the pavement I made my way across the parking lot to the school. Half way their I heard a car that was suspiciously close as it's engine revived an warning. I turned my head slowly and raised an eyebrow at the shiny silver Lamborghini.
