I pulled up to the house I hadn't seen in a long time and took a deep breath before finally gaining the courage to knock on the door.
"Iliana? Oh my—! What? Uh, what are you doing here?"
"Nice to see you too, sis!" I said as I wrapped my twin into a hug.
"No, obviously I'm happy to see you, I just—I'm just surprised!" Elena said as she looked on at me, still in shock.
"Aren't you going to invite me in?" I asked her expectantly, making her look on at me in a worry.
"What?" I rolled my eyes and barged in making her sigh in relief.
"Glad to know you're still as paranoid as ever!" I said with a light chuckle.
"Sorry I thought you were—"
"A vampire?" I asked to her surprise. "Nope. Not yet anyway. Where's Jer? And Jenna?"
"I'm sorry, did you say vampire?" She asked me in disbelief.
"Yeah, I know all about your Mystic Falls Antics!" I answered, rolling my eyes at her. "Funny how you managed to tell me every little detail about you and Stefan's sex life but somehow managed to forget that you're a doppelganger, your hot boyfriend and his even hotter brother and Caroline are all vampires! Also, Bonnie's a witch? That would have made our skype calls so much more interesting."
"I'm sorry." She said with a sigh. "But it's not exactly something you just spring on someone!"
"Yeah if I hadn't met your doppelganger, I wouldn't have known." I said with a grin.
"You've met Katherine?" Elena said in disgust.
"She's the one coming after your boyfriend isn't she, yikes!" I said shaking my head. "If it helps, she was nice to me when I first met her! And I met our mother, we're adopted, I'm guessing you knew that."
"Yeah but there's something you should know." Elena took my hand in hers and her eyes began to water. "Iliana, Isobel is dead."
"What?" I took my hand from hers and felt my mood drop from a wild high to a monotone numbness.
"This vampire, Klaus, he made her take off her daylight ring and kill herself." She told me as the tears started to trickle down her face. "He wants to kill me too."
"Not if I kill him first." I said, clenching my fists tightly.
"Don't worry, I'll take care of it." She assured me. "Now where's your stuff? I'll help you get unpacked."
"I'm already unpacked." I told her with a waned smile. "I've got my own house."
"Why aren't you staying here?"
"We both know the answer to that."
"That was ages ago!" Elena stropped. "I'm over it! Just come back!"
"I'm not." I replied, shaking my head vehemently. "I should probably go, it's getting late and you have school tomorrow. Text me when Jeremy and Jenna get back, I'll come and see you again." I waved goodbye and she reluctantly returned the gesture. I thought about driving home but I knew I was going to be bored there, so I did the next best thing. I was going to go drinking. I downed shot after shot after shot and before I knew it, I was flat out wasted.
"How do you plan on paying for these by the way?" The grumpy bar tender asked me.
"Don't worry mate, I've got her covered." I turned to my left to see the most beautiful man I had ever seen with a hot British accent. He had dirty blonde hair and blue eyes that could pierce through you. He had a crooked smile that just made him look even more gorgeous and he was flashing that smile at me.
