Things seemed calm as me and my party of 4 were quietly trotting through the small village. At most times, we found ourselves walking through small areas with little to no people, avoiding the eyes of them as they stared from afar. We tried to keep calm, and we tried to keep our spirits up. Not much was said during the time we were together, except for when Alfie would try to crack a simple joke, but none of us would laugh. Only once did I give him a lighthearted smile.

It had become dark and the sky was beginning to show its true colors. Alfie suddenly stopped, and stared at all of us as we stopped to see what he wanted to state. He looked over to James, who was the likely leader out of all of us, which is most likely why he felt the need to ask him first."We need to rest. Elliot looks like he's getting cold, and tired." He walked over to me, cupping my frail hands and breathing warm air into them.

I felt my face warm as I pulled away quickly."What? No I'm fine!" Indeed I was quite cold, but it was hard to feel tired in a situation like this. Although I still felt a bit distant from Alfie after our kiss from the day before, when we weren't on the midst of death.

"We should find a safer place to camp out if it's so neccesary for you." James said this with a snarky attitude, and turned around. He grabbed Kait's hand, pulling her forward with him. Jenny looked me in the eyes, a bit of pity hidden behind them, before walking on with the other two.

I hesitated before slowly following them, not looking to see if Alfie had stopped sulking in the same spot.

I silently jogged to catch up with Jenny, and walked beside her. It was hard to make conversation with her due to her lack of English, but deep down I knew she was an amazing person, and she truly made me feel better each time she would smile at me in harsh moments.

We continued to walk, though I had no idea where. Eventually we made it to an area secluded from the town, after entering a patch of woods. It was our best bet after walking through the village all day, we needed a change of scenery, and possibly some water.

We encountered a circle of trees, with a large circle of dirt. James stopped, and turned to all of us."Alfie you're going to take first watch, while me and the others sleep. I'll take second watch later, after a few hours."

Alfie nodded and walked away to sit against a tree. I considered following him, but decided against it. I walked over to a few trees down from him, and sat against it. I leaned my head back, not feeling so comfortable, although knowing this is the best it'll get for now.

Kait took off her jacket, and layed it down on the ground. She sat down and curled up onto it. James lay down behind her, putting his arm around her to keep her warm and protected.

I silently wished that Alfie would do the same, maybe just warming my hands again, but immediantly stopped myself from letting thoughts like that go through my head.

What is wrong with me?  I said to myself, feeling as if i deserved another lecture from my father about why God is our savior, and being Gay is bad. I knew I didn't believe any of it, but I wanted an excuse to drown out my obvious feelings towards my childhood best friend.

I could hear Jenny lay down further from all of us, against a large tree that seemed to tower all the rest.

Suddenly I felt the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, as a large thump was heard from next to me. An arm wrapped itself around me, and pulled me close. I turned to see Alfie smiling at me, our faces close.

I backed away in a panic, my face becoming more pale than before.

"Calm down its only me", I heard Alfie say in the dark."I have to stay up to keep watch half the night, I need a little company. And I'm really cold. We could pretend we're on naked and afraid, minus the naked part. Orrrr..." He winked at me before holding his hand out for me to grab.
