The girl sat there in a bus stop on the side of an old, dirty road, waiting for her bus to arrive. She sighed as the cold, rainy wind blew into her pale face making her shiver in despair. Her flaming orange hair was dampened down to a mangled brown color. It was already half past 7, and her bus should have been here fifteen minutes ago. These buses were never late, so she had no idea why this one was.
Giving up, she got up and she walked up the narrow sidewalk covered in grass and trash to the closest building to seek shelter from the wind and rain. She soon found a small store, and decided to go there. There shouldn't be many people there, right? She sprinted over to the front as fast as she could, almost slipping on the dirty rug they had placed outside that stated 'Welcome!' The lights were off, so she wasn't sure if anyone was even in there. She knocked once and the door opened slightly. She peeked in a little, and saw no one. She got chills up her spine, not from the icy wind and rain, but from inside the building. She figured still it would be safer inside, so she shakily pushed open the door and stepped inside. The place was much more comfortable than the bus station outside. Something about this place still gave her chills, so she decided it would be better if she looked to make sure nothing was wrong. Good idea, right?
Right...
Never investigate a place alone, in the dark, on a chilly, rainy night with no one around to be seen.
She wasn't the only one who had taken shelter in this building. Many "people" had. And by people, well, the only people here were ghosts, except for her. They were just as scared seeing her as she was of them. She was terrified of ghosts. She hadn't seen them yet, though. Ghosts are exceptionally good hiders. They can hide right in front of you and you would walk right through them, not even thinking twice about them being there. She sighed, believing she was actually alone after searching a few rooms and thinking the rest would be the same. Empty room after room after room... That is, until she found a room upstairs that was mysteriously lit up, and soft, melodic music played from inside. She questioned whether or not she should see if anyone was there, but ultimately gave in to her own curiosity in the end. She silently crept up to the door, and she noticed she got even more chills and felt a little more paranoid as she did so, but she shook it off like it was nothing.
It wasn't nothing.
It was numerous ghostly hands trying to grab her and pull her back, though none of them worked. They didn't want her to go into that room, but she was going in there, no matter what. She knocked three times on the door, and the music stopped instantly. She froze, and backed up slightly. The swallowed harshly and stared intently at the door as it slowly opened, revealing what seemed to be an old lady.
An old lady floating in a long sleeping gown with hair dragging on the ground and glowing white. She froze as she looked upon the ghostly old lady. Her eyes were a dark grey, showing no signs of color in them, and she couldn't see her feet. The ghost lady's feet were covered by a long, white, glowing dress that flowed as she swayed and spun in place. She looked at the ghost lady a bit longer before stumbling backwards, falling, with her hand over her heart. There was only fear on her face and she gasped loudly as the ghost lady turned in her direction. The look on the lady's ghostly face was carelessness and anger, but also calmness and beauty. The ghost lady didn't seem to care too much that she was there, as the only thing it did was shrug and then turn away, continuing to play music and slowly dance.
The girl slowly got back up on her feet and backed even farther away from the room. Her face had already grown immensely paler due to the eeriness of this place. She finally took her hand off of her heart and sighed as she noticed the ghost lady would do her no harm. The music the ghost lady was playing also helped to calm her down a little more, and she turned to go to another room. She then felt a tap on her shoulder followed by even more intense chills. Slowly, she turned her head back around to see the ghost lady staring at her with cold, dead eyes. The girl then froze, not wanting to anger or excite the ghost at all. The ghost continued to stare intensely, eventually causing the girl to shiver with a cold sweat. The ghost lady's mouth then formed a wild grin, and let out a thunderous laugh. The girl jumped slightly as the ghost lady embraced her quickly, then left back to the room once more.
Being stunned by the behavior of this ghost, the girl turned to go back down the stairs she had climbed up. As she did this, she saw the horrified faces of the other ghosts as they saw she was still alive. They must have gotten trapped in here just like her, and not known anything about ghosts. The girl had always watched movies and informative videos about how to act around ghosts that confront you, so she survived with the knowledge. She moved at a quick pace down the steps, almost tripping on her own feet at the bottom. When she was fully down the steps, she looked up and saw large groups of ghost people dancing and having a good time. She questioned how she missed this the first time she was in this room, but kept moving towards the door in a hurried pace.
Until, something grabbed her hand.
She quickly stopped and turned, seeing a young male ghost figure standing there, holding her hand. He had a small smile on his pale face, and seemed to be waiting for an answer. The girl tilted her head, asking him to repeat his question. He frowned for a second, then smiled again asking her in a booming, ghostly voice to dance with him. The girl frowned, before slowly shaking her head, and pointing to the door. This caused the ghost man to frown as well, but obliged, letting her go. She smiled at him, and quickly ran out of the door. She looked around again, and now, it was still dark and there was still freezing wind with a small breeze, but there were also people. People of all ages walking or driving up the road. There were people sat at the bus stop, and people in the buildings. Real people, not ghosts. She let out a long sigh of relief, and made her way back to the bus stop. Not even a minute passed when the bright bus pulled to a stop next to them, letting everyone on to get warm and cozy on their way to wherever they were headed. They all paid the driver as they stepped on and made their way to their seats. The girl went to a seat all alone in the very back, then grinned as she pulled out a piece of paper and a light, and began writing.
"I was sat in the cold, freezing rain on a bus stop when..."
