Mark’s Point of View
It was 12:45 when I finally decided to leave to pick up Ruby and Emma. I was wearing a pair of blue jeans and a black tee-shirt with a grey hoodie. I grabbed my phone, my keys, and my wallet before heading out the door.
The weather was kind of shitty today, but it was nice for a date at the movies. As I continue my drive to the girl’s house, it started it rain, and by the time I got to the house it was pouring.
I ran up to the door, and Emma quickly opened it for me. I was pretty soaked, but I’d dry at the movies.
“Hey, Mark!” Emma exclaims happily, and she comes over and hugs me. I return the hug, soaking her pink shirt slightly.
“Hey! You ready?” I ask, and Emma gives me an odd look that I really couldn’t read.
“Well, I am. But Ruby is it. Give her a minute.” Emma states, and right as she says that, Ruby comes running down the stairs.
“I’M READY, BITCHES!” She yells as she bounces down the steps. She’s wearing a pair of shorts and a grey zip up jacket. Her hair was down, and she just looked happy to be getting out of the house.
“Then let’s go!” Emma calls, and we all run out to my car. Emma and I sit in the front, and Ruby chills in the back.
When I start the car, Ruby pulls out her phone and places a pair of ear buds in her ears. I smile as I look back in the mirror and see her jamming out in the back.
“Does she always do this?” I ask, gesturing to Ruby. Emma just smiles and laughs.
“Yeah… Pretty much.” Emma and I laugh.
The rest of the car ride was pretty much spent in silence, with Ruby jamming out in the back.
After we parked the car at the movies, we run in, because it was still raining cats and dogs, and run up to the line for the register.
There were a few people in front of us, so we all just stood in line in another silence. That is, until Ruby broke it by singing softly.
After her singing a few verses, I realized she was singing ‘Hello Monsta’, a song I made with Minx and Boyinaband.
“I want Slenderman to be my Frienderman, and we can take a road trip in the Slendervan.” She rapped softly, and I couldn’t help but smile.
“Hey…” I interrupt, tapping on her shoulder.
“Hmm?” She asks, and I smile again.
“What song you rapping there?” I ask, and she blushes softly.
“Oh, its just this really cool song called…” Ruby was about to finish, but we were at the front of the line.
“Hello, and how can I help you?” The woman asked, and Emma spoke up first, getting us out tickets.
“Can we please have two tickets to see ‘Endless Love’?” Emma asks, and the woman punches a few things in before looking at Ruby.
“Any you?” She asks, and Ruby has this solemn look on her face before she sees something and bursts in excitement.
“FROZEN SINGALONG!!!!” Ruby shouted, and the woman just smiled. We paid for our tickets, and went our separate ways. I really didn’t want to see some sappy romance movie, but if Emma was happy, I was happy.
Emma and I sat for a few minutes and had a short conversation about the weather and such, but we both quieted down once the movie started. There wasn’t a lot of people in here, and I could tell why. It was sad and depressing. And after about ten minutes, Emma was asleep next to me.
“Fucking great.” I said quietly to myself. Now I’m stuck in here seeing this crappy movie. That’s when an idea popped into my head.
I slowly make my way out of the theater and search until I see the theater Ruby was in. When I opened to the door, I was surrounded by darkness, and I could hear singing. When is stepped in further, I saw Ruby dancing around the empty theater, singing to ‘Do You Want to Build a Snowman?’
“It doesn’t have to be a snowman…” Ruby and the movie say in unison, and when is speak up, Ruby jumps up in surprise.
“Go away, Ruby!” I shout, and once she sees it me she smiles at me, motioning for me to come over.
“Ok, bye…” She says, and I can’t help but smile.
“So, what are you doing in here? What happened to you and Emma?” She asks, the song still playing in the background.
“Well, Emma fell asleep, and that movie was boring me to tears, so I figured you’d be having more fun than me. And now I’m here.” I explain, and Ruby motions for me to sit down next to her.
We continue to watch the movie, that is, until ‘Love is an Open Door’ comes on. That’s when Ruby pulls me up off my feet, and she dances around the seats.
“Can I just, say something crazy?” Ruby asks me, and I smile.
“I love crazy.” I reply, and we continue the song.
“I mean, it’s crazy.”
“What?”
“We finish each other’s….”
“Sandwiches!”
“That’s what I was gonna say!”
“I’ve never met someone who thinks so much like.”
We move over to each other and lock pinkies.
“Jinx! Jinx again!”
Ruby then runs over so we’re on opposite sides, and she starts dancing like a robot. We both laugh as I join in and continue singing.
“Our mental synchronization can have but one explanations. You and I were just meant to be.”
We laugh as we continue running around the theater, singing at the top of our lungs.
“Life can be so much more with you.”
“With you.”
“With you.”
“With you!”
Ruby and I run over to each other and try to mimic the movie. We make the heart, just like they do.
“Love is an open door.”
We laugh as I get down on one knee.
“Can I say something crazy? Will you marry me?”
Ruby giggles and acts surprised.
“Can I say something even crazier? Yes!”
We both laugh as we make our way back to our seats.
“It’s nice, being alone in the theater.” I say, and Ruby smiles at me.
“Yeah… It really is.” She states, and we continue watching the movie in peace.
