Same NightNew York Institute - Hallway
Kasey and Lydia were walking together, talking
"I'm sorry I wasn't there" Lydia told her
"It's okay, I wasn't hurt" Kasey told her. They stopped, facing each other "I can't say the same about Alec. He actually stopped the Forsaken from killing me"
Lydia smiled a surprised smile "Wait, he did?" Kasey nodded. "That's nice of him" They started walking again "Speaking of Alec. I have to tell you something"
Kasey stopped, turning to Lydia, hearing how serious she was "What is it?'
Lydia bit her lip, "Alec asked to marry me"
Kasey stared at her in shock "Woah"
Lydia shook her head, "I guess you didn't see that coming, huh?"
"I've seen too many bad choices Alec will make but this one tops them all and I didn't see it" Kasey told her
Lydia raised her eyebrows "Ouch"
Kasey realized how it came out, closing her eyes "Crap. I didn't mean it like that" Lydia nodded, looking away "I'm sorry Lyds. Marrying you is not a bad choice. You're an excellent choice but, uh I just wouldn't think marriage is the right thing to do in a situation like this... And, I'm making it worse, am I not?" Lydia nodded, avoidin her eyes. Kasey sighed "Lydia. You know I support you always. But, think about this throughly"
"We have" Lydia told her, "This is pure political, Kace. We're marrying because we have to, not because we are in love"
"Does Alec know that?" Kasey asked. Lydia didn't answer. Kasey looked away for a moment, looking back at Lydia "Why are you doing this then?"
"To restore the Lightwoods' name and so the institute won't fall in the wrong hands" Lydia told her.
Kasey softened her eyes, "You're helping them"
Lydia nodded, "It's the least I can do. I mean, I wouldn't ask you to marry Alec to help him and his family, right? Your grandmother wouldn't allow it because of her rocky relationship with them and you don't even know how to run an institute-"
"Too much work and how boring" Kasey told her.
"Exactly" Lydia told her "Which is why when the Clave asked which one of us to run the institute you said me"
"Consider it as the institute you were going to run and weren't able to" Kasey told her "My gift to you"
Lydia smiled slightly, "I just ask for your support, parabatai" Kasey stayed silent. "I can't do this without you. I want you by my side"
"Your people will be my people" Kasey quoted. She nodded after a moment of silence. "Alright. Whatever you need"
Lydia smiled, hugging Kasey "Thank you, thank you"
Kasey smiled slightly, but looked worried, hugging Lydia back.

Kasey was waiting in the main room of the institute for Raj, another shadowhunter.
A Seelie named Meliorn walked in followed by Raj.
Kasey walked closer, stopping next to Raj, looking curiously at Meliorn.
Meliorm returned the look, blinking slowly.
Isabelle noticed them coming, standing up from the computers, "Meliorn? What are you doing here?"
