"Melody!" My mother yelled, from downstairs.

What did she want. "WHAT?!" I yelled back, ever so polietly. "FAMILY MEETING NOW!" She yelled, her voice clearly getting impatient. I groaned, and hobbled into the living room.

"Just because you asked so nicely." I said rather sarcastically, giving my mother a glare.

She rolled her eyes, and sighed. "Sit down, Melody Grace." I scowled at my middle name and sat down next to my older brother, James.

My mum sat down and threw on her serious face.

"Oh god, what now?" James whispered in my ear, causing me to laugh a little bit too loud.

Mum sighed again, "Well, you probably don't remember, but a year ago I told you guys about the job I applied for in England." She started, "And how I told you, don't worry about it because it was like 1 in a 1000 chance I would get it-"

My heart was pounding. I did not like the way this was going. I simply did NOT want to hear two simple words that would change my life.

"Well, kids.."

I shut my eyes, and prayed that she wasn't going to say what I thought she was.

"We're moving."

My heart snapped and probably fell out of my ass. My breath hitched and I smelt something unpleasant, James probably let one rip.

"I got the job!" My mum said, ever so happily.

Silence.

James was staring into space, but didn't look to happy. And I threw my face in my hands, to hide my on-coming tears. "When?" I croaked, still hiding my face.

"Exactly one month."

That's when I cracked. All my tears bursted out. Just when I thought my life was great, everything shatters. And being the immature little 15 year old I am, I stood up and ran to my room, and slammed the door my behind me. I backed up against the wall and slid down, crying my eyes out, crying like there was no tomorrow. I cried for 2 hours straight, with one thing on my mind.

How was I going to tell Niall?

---

 Niall's POV

"Cheese? Ham?" Sean asked from the kitchen. "The works, mate!" I replied, collapsing onto the couch.

My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard, damn right, it's better than yours.

Lol, the one and only ringtone. I picked up the phone and pressed answer, "Hey beautiful, what's the craic?"

"Niall.." Her voice croaked. She didn't sound to good. "Yeah babe? What's wrong?" I replied, starting to get worried. "Come over, please." She whispered. I tensed up, wondered what happened?

"Sure, i'll be there in a few." I hung up and grabbed my jacket. Sean came out with two plates of sandwhiches, "Where you headed?"

"Sorry mate, Mel called. She didn't sound to good, so just going to check up on her." I apologized.

"No worries, i'll just eat your sandwhich then." He laughed. "Go ahead, see you."

I patted his back and headed out.

---

After a few short minutes of walking, I finally arrived at the Hart residence. I knocked on the door.

The door slowly opened, to reveal a sad looking James. I opened my mouth to say something but got cut off, "She's upstairs, mate." James blankly said, then walked off.

He left me in the hallway, completely gobsmacked. Something was obviously wrong. The vibes of the household came across, sad. Not the usual happy, crazy.

I shut the front behind me and chucked my jacket onto the hook. I ran upstairs hoping to find answers.

I reached Melody's room and turned the doorknob, It was locked. I knocked on the door, "Melody, love. I'm here." I heard some footsteps and the door click, the door was now swung open. And the sight I saw, was not pretty.

Standing infront of me, was Melody. But not the usual Melody. Her dirty blonde hair was up in a messy ponytail, she was wearing one of my Rolling-Stones t-shirts, I left behind and grey fatpants. Her normally light-brown eyes were bloodshot and her tear-stained cheeks were red.

"Niall.." her faint voice said. I didn't reply. I stepped foward and wrapped my arms around her, pulled her close and held her tight.

She hugged me back, very tight. It felt like she was holding on, not wanting to let go. I stroked her hair and comforted her as she cried into my chest.

I absoulutelt hated seeing my best friend sad. I just wanted her to be her usual self. Happy and care-free. Seeing her in this state made my heart sink.

I tilted her chin up so we were face to face, I kissed her forehead and wiped away the tears flowing down her cheeks with my thumbs. I grabbed her hand and lead her to her bed and lay down, leaning against the wall. Melody crawled up next to me and curled into my side, I wrapped my arm around her waist and pulled her close.

"Care to tell me what made my bestie so upset?" I said.

She shook her head like a little 5 year old, not wanting to eat brocolli, or something.

"C'mon love, I need to know."

"It would make you upset, and i'll just probably breakdown again.." She trailed off.

"Melody." I said seriously, making dead eye-contact, "I'm here for you no matter what. I'll aways be right here."

She started sobbing. Worse than before.

I opened my mouth to comfort her, but-

"No you won't, Nialler!" she cried,

"We're moving to England."

What.

I'm losing my best friend, in the whole world. This can't be happening.

My heart stopped and shattered to a million pieces. That's when a tear fell from my eye.

Melody saw my face and threw he arms around my neck, "Niall, I'm so sorry. I won't leave you. I can't leave-"

I put a finger to her lips, " It's okay babe. I stick by to what I said. I'm here for you no matter what," I put my hand on her heart. "I'll always be right here."

The sad look in her eyes were replaced with a sweet smile. She placed her hand on top of mine, "Thank you." She whispered. I smiled in reply.

Melody cracked a smile, "Do you realise how cheesy you sounded?" She smirked.

"Only the best." I winked.

A few minutes later, Melody shoved Finding Nemo into the dvd player. We were all snuggled up on the bed, when my mouth decided to get real dry.

"Want some hot coco?" I asked, standing up. "Yes please."

And with that I exited her room and entered the kitchen. I put the jug on and opened the cupboard. "I suggest Mel stays with you tonight." A voice said from behind me. I turned around to see James standing there with a duffle bag slung over his shoulder.

"Cherish the time you have togther. Because this maybe goodbye."
