Running round the kitchen at lightning speed, I tried to get everything prepared for Perrie's arrival. I'd invited her round for a date night and decided to cook. I was trying to impress her and a greasy kebab from the local take away wasn't going to do that. I put the pasta back into the oven to cook and ran upstairs to get ready.
I styled my hair into a fishtail braid and applied simple makeup, wanting to impress but not go completely over the top. I sprayed myself with my favourite perfume then looked in the mirror one last time to check that I looked at least presentable. No amount of makeup would compare to Perrie though.
Fifteen minutes later, the blonde Geordie arrived and I welcomed her into my home. I showed her through to the kitchen where she took a seat at my dining table where I joined her after pouring us both a glass of water.
I soon relaxed as the conversation flowed and I forgot about the pasta bake. That was until the smoke alarm started beeping and I looked over to see smoke coming from my brand new oven.
"Shit!" I cried as I leaped from my chair at the table.
Running across the laminate floor, I opened the oven door and pulled out the food using a towel. I slammed it onto the side and groaned when I saw the layer of black on top of the cheese. My smoke alarm was still piercing our eardrums with it's high pitched beeping so I jumped up and down like an idiot, wafting a towel in front of it trying to make it stop.
"Here" Perrie laughed, reaching up and pressing the button easily considering she's so much taller than me.
"Thanks" I mumbled, embarrassed.
"Well, that looks shit" I stated, looking at the dish in front of me.
"It doesn't, it's just a little burnt. We can scrape the top bit off and eat the rest" Perrie said cheerfully, but I knew she was just being polite.
Putting on an oven glove and taking a fork from the drainer next to the sink, she headed to the bin with my disaster and began scraping the burnt layer off the top.
"There, that's fine now" She smiled, placing the dish back on the side.
I grabbed two plates and gave us both a small serving, knowing neither of us would be eating much.
We both sat down and started to eat in silence. After a few minutes, I looked up to see Perrie's face screwed up in disgust as she chewed another mouthful of the vile food I'd served her.
"You don't have to eat it" I told her.
"I want to, it's good" She lied.
"Yeah, looks it" I laughed. "I'm sorry it turned out so shit"
"Don't worry, it was an experience" She smiled. "I'll order Chinese"
"No no, I'll get it. It was meant to be me treating you in the first place"
After ten minutes of bickering, Perrie finally agreed to let me pay for the food and an hour later we were curled up on the sofa with our cooked to perfection Chinese meals. This time I could tell Perrie was enjoying it and she seemed happy. I handed her the TV remote and she put on some ridiculously cheesy romance film but I didn't complain. I was just glad she hadn't ran a million miles after my kitchen disaster and I hoped we could enjoy the rest of our night together.
