"I will always be here to protect you" said Devon
The woman who was sitting in the passenger seat next to Devon, rolled her eyes and looked out the window.
"Don't promise something you don't mean"
"Liz why do you have to be like that?"
"I don't appreciate a lack of loyalty... Devon, you chose to betray me, expect me to be like..."
Elizabeth Gasped. The car crashed into a pole and it all went dark. Elizabeth awoke to find herself laying in water, it wasn't deep, but it was a never ending trail of water, there in front of her she saw the car, completely destroyed and smoke escaping from the bonnet.
"DEVON, DEVON"
she repeatedly screamed his name, but she felt as though only she could hear her screams, she completely changed, she went from scared and paranoid to emotionless, her face changed and she walked slowly to the car, the water moving with her feet. she stood before the mangled door of the car and opened it, the door broke and fell into the water but it sunk, even though Elizabeth was standing in the water like it was a platform. She looked at Devon, his face covered in blood, he was dead.
"If you hold the true power... make someone else feel the pity and the shame they want you to feel" a voice spoke in the distance.
a smirk formed across Elizabeth's face. she picked up a shard of glass and slit her throat.
"Liz honey, wake up" spoke a calm voice.
she awoke to see a familiar face, it was her mother.
"I hate to do this to you Liz, but you need to get ready for the funeral"
Elizabeth looked over to the alarm clock on the table, 9:00am, in two hours awaited her devastation, the place she will go to that she hopes will be a forgotten memory, Devon's Funeral. She looked back to her mother.
"My dress is in the closet, I hope it smells as good as the day I bought it"
Her mother noticed Elizabeth's rather odd behavior since the accident, but she brushed it off and believed it was just trauma. Her mother did not like her dress, it was a black gown, that covered her arms and her whole body, it was something worn in the 18th century, but she acted like she loved it just to keep her daughter happy.
"Of course" said Elizabeth's Mother.
Elizabeth looked her mother in the eyes, a tear fell from her eye.
"Devon wouldn't have wanted to see me like this... but my heart is in a million pieces"
"Oh Honey, I know this isn't easy, but I'll be here to help you through it"
"Will you?"
and with that comment, the tension became awkward and her mother felt hurt, but Elizabeth ignored the chance to fix what she said and walked out of bed and into the closet to get her dress. She walked over to the mirror and caressed the dress. she looked over to her mother, her mothers skin was drying up, it wasn't smooth, she was crumbling her skin falling to the floor, her skin was dying, and pieces of her skin kept falling to the floor.
"Why are you looking at me like that Liz?" her mother questioned her.
Her mother's face was back to the normal.
"You're dying... aren't you?"
Her mother softly gasped.
"How did you know?"
Elizabeth turned back to the mirror.
"A flower is losing its petals" said Elizabeth.
