Once I stepped out of the car, everyone was screaming and cameras were flashing. I plaster a smile on my face and walk onto the red carpet. I get to the section where I have a million photographers shouting for me to look at their camera. I stay poised and proper as I smile for each picture. Sarah hurries me along, with Elijah following close behind. He stayed close enough to protect me but gave me space to take pictures.
"Hi, Jade over here" I hear a young interviewer say. I head towards her with a smile on my face
"hi, what's your name?" I ask her
"Trish," she says
"Nice to meet you," I say shaking her hand
"It's an honour to meet you." She says "is it ok to ask you some questions?" she asks
"of course, ask away," I say.
"what are some expected trends to see in your show tonight?" She asks me
"without giving anything major away. you can expect a lot of velvet and some really gorgeous deep colours" I tell her.
"what are your main inspirations for this winter's fashion show?"
"I love winter, it's one of my favourite seasons. I am inspired mainly by the weather and scenery for this fashion show" I answer
"We have heard that Fredrick Singer, is holding his fashion show next week are you worried?" She asks. She was reading from a piece of paper in her hands
"I'm never worried. He can do his thing and I will do mine." I smile
"There is a rumour going around that he stole your fashion show plans?" She asks with a sigh. I place my hand on hers and lower them
"ask me the questions you want to ask me not what you have been told to ask me" I say giving her a smile. She beams back at me and hands the paper to someone stood behind her.
"I want to talk about your outfit tonight," She says
"Ok." I chuckle "well I have finally jumped onto the pyjama as clothes trend and I actually think I'm in love," I say
"Me too. did you style this together or did you have a stylist choose it?" She asks
"I actually choose this myself. This is an Alexander Wang bodysuit and these pants are from my spring collection" I tell her
"It looks great. Is your fashion show tonight based on your own style?" She asks
"I think that each one of my designs are influenced by my own tastes and styles. I wouldn't design something I didn't like, even if it meant going against the trends of that year" I tell her
"Has it always been your dream to be a fashion designer?" She asks
"not always. It wasn't until I was 15 that I decided I love fashion and designing. If it wasn't for my amazing teachers and the support of my family I wouldn't be where I am today" I tell her
"do you have any advice for any aspiring fashion designers?" She asks
"Don't give up. I'm sure that's a common answer. but honestly don't give up, if you are so passionate about something then you keep going until your dream has been achieved. even if it means making sacrifices" I say.
"thanks for talking to me" she smiles
"it was my pleasure." I say
"do you mind signing this for me?" She asks sheepishly
"of course not" I smile, quickly signing the book she was holding out. Sarah halls me away. I do a few more interviews and talk to a few friends on the carpet before heading inside. I head backstage to see my models and my dresses.
"ok let's get to work," I say. I slip off my heels so I could walk around better. I also throw my hair up into a quick messy bun to get it out of my face. I start moving around backstage, fixing any dresses that needed fixing, I helped models get ready and I shouted a lot.
"Sarah where is Maddie's hairpiece?" I shout, fixing Maddie's hair.
"I thought she was wearing the big piece you designed?" Sarah asks confused
"No Brin is wearing that it's too heavy for Maddie because she's in the big dress," I say.
"shit," Sarah says fear rising up in her eyes.
"it's fine. go get Brin's hair ready. I'll sort Maddie's headpiece" I say and she lets out a sigh of relief and rushes over to Brin. I head over to the scrap fabric bin and dig out some scrap sequin pieces. I rush over to Maddie and make a quick headpiece out of the scrap fabric
"I don't care what anyone else says, you're good," Maddie says admiring the piece
"thanks, Maddie. go get dressed" I tell her then I head over to Brin who was walking on first.
"Where's the headpiece?" I ask her and she points "ok have you tried it on?" I ask and she shakes her head. I take a deep breath and grab the headpiece. She sit's still as I secure the headpiece to her head, it was a huge. I called it the chandelier because it had crystals and glass icicles and it was massive.
"does that feel ok?" I ask
"yeah thanks," She says
"ok everyone you have 30 minutes to get ready," I say before heading to the boy's section.
"Christian what is that?" I ask him staring at his upper lip
"a moustache?" He says"shave it or die it white. I don't care just fix it" I say moving to the next person I needed to shout at
"Louis, can't wear those they don't fit" I shout throwing that at the person who handed them to my model. I find the pair he is supposed to be wearing and hand them to him.
"These boys need makeup on," I say. I had sat Matthew down in a chair so I could start on his makeup. I was just using face paint to create an abstract piece of art that didn't look amazing on his face. however, it fits with my theme and it didn't have to be perfect. My Fashion show theme was fantasy winter wonderland. I wanted to use the idea of an ice queen and magic. Everything was decorated with fake snow, icicles, crystals and all things white. The runway looked like an ice rink with a few snowmen dotted around. some of the girls were wearing high heels that looked like ice skates others had normal heels on while some had boots. I was really proud of this theme and I couldn't wait to see it come to life.
