Adrian snuck back into the castle grounds, up the vines to his bedroom window and into his room
"Phew!, that was close, I think one of the guards nearly caught me!" Adrian said to himself turning on the lights

"Ahhh" Adrian yelled as he tripped up on his rug
"Wait....what's this?" He flipped the carpet over to reveal a white envelope
Adrian picked up the envelope and slide his fingers under the sealed flap and ripped it open. Inside was an off white piece of paper with golden lace attached to the back. A familiar smell rose from the letter. Adrian froze this smell was all too familiar.
"M....mum" Adrian stuttered with shock
Adrian's mother had always signed her letters with a lavender scent, but it wasn't just any type of lavender. Adrian's mother used to grow lavender flowers in her Avery before she went missing and the flowers were left for dead. This lavender smelt exactly like the lavender his mother had grown. Adrian unfolded the letter and it read.....

By the time you read this something would have probably happened to me but you don't need to worry soon every thing will be as clear as crystal you'll see.
Just remember to look after your father Adrian we both know how he can be. Remember to look after him ok? Promise me you'll do that. Your the one who will keep this family going my beautiful boy, just remember that.
If you haven't already go speak to Mr Wang, he's one of my oldest friends, he'll explain everything, I promise.

"Mum" Adrian sighed as he gripped the letter tightly and held it to his chest
"You knew something would happen to you, why didn't you tell me or dad" Adrian cried, his words were so sincere
He flopped onto his bed but something slipped out of the envelope and fell to the ground. Adrian looked down to see what it was
"Mums..........Peacock hair broach?" Adrian questioned as he went to have a closer look at it.
Adrian's mother never left home without wearing it in her hair.
