My face is blank as the whole room falls silent. Me? Adopted? How could anyone adopt me? Ms.Daphney blinks at Addison who stands there smiling.
"Pardon?"
Ms.Daphney asks, clearly still trying to recover from the shock of the question.
" I would like to adopt these girls. So...can you give me their files qwkkiand the paperwork?"
She asks, annoyance flickering across her face. Ms.Daphney clears her throat.
"Uh...with all do respect Ms.Addison. But..I'm not sure that's a -"
Addison hold up her hand, and Ms.Daphney cuts off.
"Ms.Daphney. Please. I came to the is Orphanage to find someone to bring home with me. And that is exactly what I intend to do"
She narrows her eyes at her, and jabs a finger in her direction.
"Now, I want you to turn around. Walk out of this room, bring me those childrens' files, and stop. Wasting. My.Time."
She snarls, her anger bubbling slowly. She puts a hand on her hip and blinks. "Now." She snaps and Ms.Daphney snaps back into reality. She nods. And then turns on her heel and leaves the room. Addison turns to me.
"Come with me."
She heads towards the door. I stand, and glance back towards the girls who watch me in amazement. I stop in my tracks. I couldn't just leave without saying goodbye.
"Ms.Addison?"
I mumble softly. She turns to me, confusion in her eyes.
"What is it darling?" She says in sweet sounding voice.
I take a gulp.
"M-May I say goodbye before we leave?"
I ask casting my eyes downwards. She watches me. Her eyes soft and remorseful.
