A scream echoed in the deserted little gym, that was under the Dupen-cheng bakery. In the middle of the floor, Marinette was on her knees curled in a ball, pulling at her hair. She was done. She was so fucking done! She couldn't take it anymore. Marinette mentally screamed at herself for not following her number one rule, 'don't trust anyone, don't become friends, don't fall in love, because you are better off on your own. With no one to worry about, but yourself.' And Marinette, had so foolishly believed, that she could have a decent life, make a friend. Agghhh, she was so stupid! She quickly glanced around the room, which had little by little, faded from use. When senior year arrived, Marinette had her shit somewhat organized, and then she had made a friend! And, after a lot of therapy sessions, encouraging adoptive parents, that had taken her in from the streets, even with her track record, and having decent things, for once, she was finally able to, little by little, stop coming to the gym. Until about a few weeks ago, when all of her so called 'friends' started ignoring her. First, it was the teacher, then it was to the rest of the class, but the final blow was when her three closest friends left. Yesterday, she had asked them to go to a movie with her, but the three declined, saying that they were busy. Only, to find a picture of both boys kissing Aylia's cheek, in front of the movie theater, at the exact movie. That was the final straw. She had promised herself that she would change, that she would be nicer, be more perky, and overall positive. And she had to admit, it was nice to be able to laugh, and smile. But, now. She knew that she couldn't keep acting like someone she was not. Heck, even her name is fake. All of her is fake! And she has never been more ashamed to turn her back on her roots. Marinette struggled to keep the mask up, as she looked around for a pen, and a piece of paper. Once she had found it, she began to write.
Dear mama, and papa,
You have been wonderful people, and I am eternally great full for taking me under your wing, and helping me. And, for the first time in my life, I was relaxed and happy, up until a few weeks ago. My friends started ignoring me, lying to me! And I can't keep hiding behind my forgiving façade anymore. I can't be that perfect slight angle anymore! It's killing me. I'm breaking, and soon, I won't be able to act like Marinette anymore. I'm turning into my old self, and this time, I don't think you can save me. This is probably the last time you will talk to Marinette. So, goodbye.
I love you,
Marinette Dupin-cheng
As she wrote the last sentence, her walls finally began to crumble. Her hair seemed to turn pitch black, her eyes turned blue with gold rings. As she gathered herself of the floor, she stood straight, with a dangerous aura around her. She threw her head to the ceiling, and laughed a silent, yet low laugh, that would send chills down your spine. She faced the door, and mused about how her 'friends' would react to her true self. She let out a low chuckle, as she swaggered to the door. Gone was the clumsy, shy Marinette Dupin-Cheng, now, and forever more, was Marina Galynthesis-Whitethorn.
