Wow, Shara. Way to end a five page chapter. Real cliffhanger-y. All sarcasm beside, I walk out the door. Turn the corner and the girl is around the tree.
"You wanna come inside?" I see the girl jump, teleport up into the tree, but miss the branch. She falls and I end up catching her. Because I'm so freaking heroic.
"Uh... yeah..." She says as I let her down.
We walk back in the house, and Xaven is on the couch. Playing a Portagame. When I motion toward the Portagame Xaven just says, "Shara." I instantly understand.
"What's your name?" I ask the girl.
"Sybel. Short for Sybelliza." She said. "No last name. I'm an orphan, rejected everywhere because of my tendency to... uh... teleport."
"Shara!" I sayl. "Go get Ma!" Shara nods and runs off. She knows why. I think Sybel is a Shadahe. "You hungry?"
"Yeah. Actually." She smiles, "I was on my way to the gas station when I got startled. I teleported by your house by accident. Usually I can control where I go. I've just got bad aim. I look left, and your I see -uh- Shara look at me. I end up around the tree. That's when you get there."
"Huh. I'll go get you a Poptart." I go into the kitchen and grab a Poptart. I walk back into the living room to find Mom and Sybel talking together. I go over and sit on the couch opposite Sybel. When I hand Sybel the Poptart I notice Mom nodding at me. Sybel is a Shadahe.
"So, whachya talkin' about?" I say.
"Who I am, and who your mom is." Sybel says.
"Sybel was abandoned at birth." Mom begins. "Her real mother died at birth and her father had left her mother when Sybel's mother told him she was pregnant. Sybel's father found her after an hour, and took her to St. Gryphien's orphanage. Soon after, Sybel was adopted by a two women. That's when the teleportation began. She scared her adoptive parents, thought that she was Devil born or something. She went back and forth between the orphanage and adoptive homes for years. Eventually she ran away, and ended up here."
"Oh. Well." I say. This was unexpected.
"Can she stay here Ma?" Shara says.
"Well-" Mom starts.
"I don't mind sleeping on the couch, Ma'am." Sybel says quickly.
"If you insist." Mom says, "and call me Kiara."

The Others
Teen FictionOriginally a sequel to a book I wrote passionately as a child, I decided that "The Others" should be it's own book, and I never ended up publishing that other book. It has switching P.O.V.s, and is written as if just a playback of a voice recording...
