I'm to be his princess; my love belongs to you.

You're meant to be his princess, but you will always be mine.

A story that starts a long time back, back when we were children, back when the thirteen of them were young, muddied, reckless boys, back when statuses did not define your friends and enemies. Back then, whoever gave us snacks were our best friend; whoever stole our snacks were our enemies.

As we grew up, the huge palace that used to be our playground grew small and confining. As we grew up, the outside world that was dangerous grew more appealing. As we grew up, they grew charming, handsome, but sometimes I'd rather have back their muddied, reckless selves- the boys who would steal my food and get in trouble for making the princess play in the mud and rain.

As we grew up, secrets started to reveal themselves and the skeletons hidden in the closets in the slowly dimming lights of this palace start to appear.

And only the strongest of our emotions will stand this test of time- And if you are willing to stand by me, believe in me, then...let us begin a story, a story that began when we were young.

A story that begins on the highest balcony of the palace, as a young girl looks out towards the blue sky, the wind buffetting her wild hair, as she watches lavish carriages pull up one after another with royal families arriving to the palace walls she was confined into.
Once upon a time, she was happy to see other kids her age, thrilled that she would finally have company other than her prim and pretty sisters. Perhaps she'd finally have an excuse to run and play outside now that there would be some diversion of attention from her. Next to her, a maidservant of a similar age watches with worried eyes, urging the princess to step further from the ledge and urging them to go downstairs and get ready before they both got in trouble.

Now, standing back on that same balcony where everything began, that girl watches the skies in the horizon. Thinking...thinking that maybe it would have been better if none of them had turned up- if their story had not begun this way...
