Chapter 7:

*Doctor's POV*

A plan was finally starting to form on how to escape and prevent the Cybermen from potentially trying to take over the planet. The sonic screwdriver that was taken from me was a fake. It couldn't even turn off a light, but it was enough to fool the Cybermen. Although, even the real one couldn’t disable a Cyberman. I would have to make a run for it.

If there was one thing I was good at, it was running.

I would only get one chance at this, one mistake and it was all over. If there was one Cyberman outside, getting away would be easy. Two, difficult, but possible. Any more though and there’d be a problem.

The door opened easily enough using the sonic, but the two Cybermen opposite the doorway immediately took action. They moved to close the door again but they were a bit slow. Sprinting past them, all I could think was ‘don’t get shot.’ As I ran, laser bolts hit the wall or flew right by my head. They didn’t seem terribly concerned about whether or not I was alive anymore.

I turned around a corner and was no longer under threat of lasers. I figured it wouldn’t be terribly difficult to outrun them considering they didn’t seem to actually run rather than just march, loudly. If I could find the main control center, I could hack into the Cybermen’s ‘hive-mind’ and deactivate every one of them at once. Then all I’d have to do is find Quinn.

It wasn’t a particularly complicated plan but there was a somewhat high chance of dying. The control center would likely be near the center of the ship, where it would be hardest to reach and the most defended. By now, every Cyberman would be looking for me, predicting where I would go and making sure they beat me there. They probably believed I would try to find Quinn first. I knew better than that, I knew there would be little point in trying that. Even if I somehow got to her, there’d be no getting away.

I started seeing Cybermen around every turn now, and always I had to find a way around them. I couldn’t just run past them, they’d catch me for sure. I had to turn back and find another way.

Eventually, I came to an open room with two more Cybermen standing guard. There were multiple computer monitors on the far side of the room showing all kinds of information. There was a map of the ship showing the cell where I’d just escaped and where each of the Cybermen were. There wasn’t a bunch heading my way luckily, but I still had to deal with the ones that were here.

There was no fighting them, they were metal machines engineered for combat and conquest, it would be suicide. The sonic screwdriver could possibly create a sonic pulse that would short out their systems temporarily, but there was no guarantee it would. It would take a lot of power and it may just drain the screwdriver and get the Cybermen’s attentions instead. But it was kind of my only option right now.

I stepped into the room and held up the sonic screwdriver right as the Cybermen noticed me. The noise was nearly unbearable to myself, let alone the Cybermen. It was working though. The Cybermen each fell to the ground before they even got close the chance to say “Delete.”

Without thinking, I ran to the computer. It would take some time to get all the Cybermen completely shut down. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t have much time.

Okay, this wasn't my best chapter, but it gets better I promise.
