We all seek to be perfect. I don't know why, but roaming down these halls reminds me how perfect we all seek to be.
It's Monday, and everyone hates Mondays. Except our History teacher. She's the fun and perky type. It's a good thing I love History."Today we'll be learning about the Civil War!!" Mrs. Morris chirped. Everyone groaned.
"But, Mrs.M, we learned this in like... 8th grade!" Some popular person called out.
"Well since you know it sooo well, tell me two advantages of each side."
That shut the popular person right up.
The South had a home land advantage and military schools. The North had a bigger population and more transportation.
Mrs. Morris recited exactly what I thought. How didn't you know any of this? It's the simplest of history on the planet!Mrs. Morris continued with our lesson. People sighed and dozed off, but not me. I loved her class she made it fun to learn.
The cafetieria. Where your social status shines it's brightest. It's like the safari. You have your populars, the lions. You have your bad-asses, the alligators. Then the hipsters, the hippos. Your nerds, the elephants. And the punks, the vultures. And finally you have your outcasts and loners, the coyoties. some of us outcasts group together, some of us don't.
As I enter the lunch room, all I see are the animals socializing.I was surprised to see an empty table and made a mad dash for it. I thought about where I would fit in, then I realized.. I don't.
I'm far from popular.. I don't even like the word. Bad-ass is far from me. I'm the jumpiest person alive.. The only thing I'd have in common with hipsters? My glasses.. I'm definitely not a punk.. Even the nerds think I'm a loser. But there's no way I'm going to fit in with the loners.. I just don't fit in anywhere. But that's fine with me. When you're alone, nobody can hurt you. (I had to! Hercules quote).
The bell rang signalling the last class of the day has began. I couldn't wait to leave and go home.. Well, to my room and sit and do nothing..
"Good evening class."
There was a silence. That's odd.. usually the class mumbles a hello, or the girls try to get the teacher's attention.. But not today.. I wonder why..
Well, If you looked up you'd know why!
I looked up from my notebook and gawk.. He was gorgeous.. I was never one for love at first sight but I think I believe it now..
No! No. You can't, and you won't. You don't need a man in your life. You'd only endanger him anyway, idiot.
I sighed. My head was right. But... The heart wants what the heart wants...
No!
Fine!!
"I think I should introduce myself," the man said after he snapped out of his daze,
"My name is Xavier Steel Donovan. But you may call me Mr. Donovan."
I could hear all the girls swoon and sigh over the hunk of a teacher. Some probably even moaned. I scoffed. How pathetic.
"Well, now that you know my name, I'd like to know yours." I swear he was looking at me when he said that.. No..
"Well! My name is Kendall Reese Miller. Better keep that in mind, it'll be of use later tonight.." Kendall winked. Kendall is a popular. THE popular to be exact. And she always gets what she wants... Always..
We went around the room saying our names and how old we are and something random or a hobby that we like. Soon enough it was my turn, but of course, I was too fascinated with my book...
Someone cleared their throat, but I didn't dare let my eyes leave the enchanting words. Then there were chuckles and giggles and snickers from the class.
I jumped when a hand took my life... I mean book.. yeah.. book.. from my hands.
"Nerd!" someone called out. soon everyone was laughing thier heads off.
"Real original." I muttered.
"What was that, Nerd?" I kept my head down. I didn't need to start something out of nothing..
"That's what I thought." The boy smirked.
