Chapter Seventeen
The party had long been over as Xavier ran quick as he could from the war room, with a surprisingly quick Ann behind him; moments ago Ann had come to him with urgent news that his sister was not well, she would have said more to him, only that his panic was far too great, he did not want to hear anything else until he saw his sister first. That was the most important thing to him right now.
His heart pounding in his ears as he ran through the halls to reach his sister’s room, passing workers and guests alike as he passed one room in particular his actions drew the attentions of the three Princesses of Sader, who peaked their heads out in interest and wonder.
“Where do you think he’s running off too in such a hurry?” Ratnali asked Chapala who was looking out the door as well with wonder.
“The toilet?” Chapala offered only to get a disapproved look from her older sister. “What? It might be the reason; I know I would run like that if I really needed to go that badly.”
“That’s because you hold it in until you’re about to burst, which isn’t good for you by the way.”
Nikhita leaned against the door frame and watched, all three of them were dressed for bed already, in loose fitting gowns for the two girl’s, while Nikhita’s was slightly tighter around the chest area, pushing herself off the wall before heading back into the room to grab a shall of dark blue with embroidery to rest over her shoulders before she headed down the hall her long hair was let down and fell almost past her waist. She knocked on the door next to their room, the door opened and Amala looked at her with slight confusion. Amala was now dressed in more modest clothing her hair came down in waves past her shoulders while dressed in a wrap while still wearing her jewelry.
“My Lady is something that matter?”
“I need you to come with me.” Nikhita merely said before walking down the hall. “You’ll understand why when we get there.”
Without a word Amala followed her in silence. Nikhita’s younger sister’s looked at each other before soon following their sister to find what was going on.
Xavier came to a sudden stop near Celina’s chambers. His breathing labored as his heart pounded heavily in his chest, it nearly took him a full minute for him to get a grip on his emotions before opening the door. “What happened to my sister?” he asked Maria when he entered his sister’s room.
“Ah well…”
He didn’t wait for her answer, instead he rushed towards he bed and pulled back the drapes of the bed and saw his sister now sleeping, with a sigh of relief he crouched down as he laid his hand against her very warm cheek, but even with the temperature the way it was her skin was almost abnormally pale, as if she were losing blood.
He noticed how she was breathing slightly off, and her brow was contorted in slight pain, it was almost like she was trying to force herself to sleep through whatever bought she had. Her white sleeping gown, from what was visible, almost drenched in sweat as she groaned in her sleep, hands grasping the sheets tightly.
“What’s wrong with her?” he asked but when no one answered his question he reached for Maria and grabbed her arms. “Is she sick?” he demanded in a panic stricken voice. “Tell me, I need to know!”
“Sire, please calm down.” Ann said while pulling his grasp away from Maria. “The Princess is not ill; she is merely weakened that is all.”
“Weakened?” he repeated while looking at Ann. “And what exactly do you mean by that?”
“It’s as she says New King.” Xavier stilled before looking further into the room and saw Tharen sitting in a chair leisurely with a book in hand. “It is nothing serious, well, at least to us men it would not been seen as such.”
