Clay's P.O.V
I felt my body shiver as my mind slowly phase away. The empty darkness closes in around me. I reach out, allowing the cold emptiness consume me.
"Miss Jenner... Miss Jenner!" A familiar voice jolts me from my trance.
I glance around the room and all eyes were on me.
Noticing I'm standing in front of the courtroom, my reality sunk in.
"Yes ma-am." I reply as I study the lady sitting behind the Judges Bench in front of me.
She has light skin, light green eyes with short curly white hair.
She is wearing a black robe like garment or what ever that black dress thing is that all judges wear.
It is clearly too big for her But there she is sitting on her high horse about to cast judgment on me.
The Judge glare at me asking " Did you hear what I had just said to you Miss Jenner?"
"Honestly didn't your honor." I reply, staring her straight into the eyes with out braking my gaze.
Damn, It's like I am begging her to kick my black ass out of Atlanta. Well, she have not played the deportation card yet. But even so, I know when the odds are stack against me and this does not look good.
The Judge leans forward, just enough to gather her composure and then she begins to speak.
"Miss Jenner, from what I can see here, it is your second offense in assault."
The Judge shifts a few pieces of paper from one hand to the other. "It is very clear that you have a problem with your anger."
The Judge stops for a moment and lean back into her large over-sized chair as if trying to
think of what to say next. She then let out a long sigh and leans forward again "Miss Jenner, I am going to assign you a therapist that can help you to get to the bottom of your anger issues."
I stare at her in disbelief as the people in the room murmur among themselves.
The judge violently pounds her gavel, trying to get the room to quiet down.
I was so certain that I was going to be put away for beating that guy into a coma. But hell,
if this is my ticket out of this mess, I will damn well take it.
A smirk curls my lips and I quickly replace it with a straight face before this lady notices and changes her mind.
My body tense up from the weight of a hand on my shoulder. Snapping my head to
the right I caught the gaze of my lawyer smiling in satisfaction of his great work and hearing such good news.
"Tak u fukin hand off me!" I spit angrily through grit teeth.
The lawyer quickly removes his hand, dropping that weasel smile along with it as he looks up at the judge.
"Miss Jenner?" The judge call after me with a stern tone, clearly witnessing what had just happen, "Do not miss any of these sessions or you will serve the full sentence for both assaults, do you understand me?"
I nod my head in acknowledgment and turn to leave the court room.
Standing on the steps of the court house I draw in a deep long well deserve breath. Looking around the court yard, I felt an oh so familiar feeling.
Hopelessness.
Quickly, I shake that negative feeling off and made my way home. Well, to the place I live.
I can't really call it home.
I do hope you enjoy this book. I know it starts out slow but it's worth the read. 😎Please vote and comment after each chapter.😘
