Prologue:

In the beginning there were The Gods. And each God fostered a Life Essence that gave them the ability to create and change, as well as thought and feeling.

Most agree that The Light was the first to gain this "essence" and with it he created light, heat and fire. He reached into the light and drew a sword of pure energy and named it "Lucem".

Next were two sisters, Dennah and Drennah. With her Life Essence, Dennah created land and plants and animals, and the Free People or Fey to enjoy the lands. She bestowed upon the Fey the art of archery and with that she created a bow and named it "Natura". Though it is not mentioned in any of the ancient texts, it is believed that Dennah created the first mortal language. Drennah looked upon these lands and saw little structure and so created order, justice and honour along with ruleship. With this she created the humans to uphold these values, and set kings to rule them. After this she looked to light for guidance and forged herself a great sword and named it "Iustitia".

Other Gods came and went, Torulf added metals and Dwarves and set them upon forges and had them wrought Iron and Steel into weapons and he chose the finest weapon for his own, a warhammer named "Percutiat" and kept it for his own. There were others, some tried to add chaos and spawned Orcs and Goblins, some were curious and experimented on the races creating, Elves, Gnomes and Halflings as well as darker things that live deep in the ground.

Zen saw that these new creatures needed rest and created the night and forged the moon. He also dictated that every mortal creature die at some point to allow more life to grow and death was formed.

This went on for a time with more additions, including dragons and with them the magics. Both Arcane and Divine.

But as this was going on. There was one who despised the life and the warmth and the light, and this was Varsk. With this he created cold and snow and forged large humans who dwell in the cold that swept the north, Giants these were, made to loot and pillage. But this was not enough it still fustrated him. He made a weapon, a flail with two heads and long shaft made of ice. He gave it no name, but confronted his essence and smashed it creating a rift.

The lands went cold, the bodies of the departed began to rise up and feast on their brothers. Some of them knew what they had become, others were just driven by hunger in a mocking imitation of life. The Undead were born. The other Gods banded together and drove the cold back north, and went after Varsk, The Light guiding the way and turning the foul creatures. But Varsk sealed himself in a wall of ice that fire nor steel nor magic would penetrate. And so that became his home. Every mortal year he still attempts to freeze the land so giants and Undead may rule, but he is driven back by The Light.

Varsk's followers are getting stronger, their every prayer weakening The Light.
