•❤ •❤ •❤ •I sat in by my bedroom table. Ever since I have gotten glasses, I use my spare time in writing.
“ Once upon a time, on a high ivory tower, a peasant girl looked out the tower window..... ” I said as I scribble the words down my paper.
But why would a peasant girl look down the window? That I don't know.
I sighed and crumpled the paper then threw it to one side.
“ Why am I not getting ideas lately? ” I murmured to myself. “ Perhaps a walk down the street can get me some ideas. ”
I got up my seat and headed for the door – leaving my chambers.
The warm, salty sea air greeted me as I hovered away to the street. The overlooking view of the sea – from bright aquamarine to deep azure – eased my fret.
I followed the cobblestone pavements until I reached the city square. In the brink of tiredness, I went towards a stall that sells H²O (Nerd term for water).
“ What can I do for you, miss? ” the vendor asked politely. “ A bottle of water would be a pleasure. ” I replied. The vendor nodded and handed me a cold bottle of water. “ That'll be ¢15, miss. ” she said. I nodded and paid her.
I walked away from the stall and went further into the square. Hordes of people, busy in the streets, are seen everywhere.
I decided to go back home. I could not think of anything. How can I write a wonderful fairytale novel if I have no idea what will I write? How will I know my novel will be read by my readers if I, myself, doesn't appear to be enthralled by what I write?
I was brought back to reality when I heard a crash. I looked forward and there, on my front, is an automobile (Nerd term for car) crash!
I stood on the lane flabbergasted. I stood there with wide eyes until I heard the siren of the ambulance. I watched the rescuers save the deeply injured persons that were involved in the crash. I watched the ambulance go and fade away in my view. A trauma is going to build itself in my mind and soul; and there is no hint if it will ever go away.
I rushed to my home. I ran from reality. I ran away from the trauma. I ran away from my memories. I ran away from my past.
And I didn't know what will I do.
I kept running.
Running.
Running faster.
Faster.
FASTER!
MUCH FASTER!
Until, the city square is just a speck of dust and my vision blurred because of the tears that formed in my green eyes. My auburn hair flowing with the wind.
“ Sakura, what happened? Are you okay? ” a voice called from behind me.
I stopped. I stood there unmoving until a hand touched my shoulder.
I slowly turned my head. A girl with blue eyes and short black hair came into view – ‘ Ellie Zerlocks'.
I shoved her hand from my shoulder and said, “ I'm fine Ellie. ”
She eyed me suspiciously and bursted into laughter. “ Oh! Yes! Finally! Nerdy's acting emotional instead of being rational! ” she said in glee.
That's what Ellie and the other bully's want. To see me sorrowful; to see me get affected. But, I am not going to act pathetic, again.
I rolled my eyes at her and walked away. There's only one thing that I must not forget about – rule number one in Geek Kingdom: Never expect mercy from your pursuers.
I entered my house and saw my mom waiting for me inside. “ Mom. You didn't tell me you're going to visit! ” I said.
My mom looked at me with looks of worry. Even if 'Akira Verlinnia' is just my foster parent, she always minds my future and safety.
“ Where have you been? It's all ready sundown! I've been so worried! ” she said.
I looked outside the window. Hues of pink and orange illuminated the sky. “ My thoughts are not flowing like the Nile, so I've decided to go out for a walk. ” I said, calmly.
“ Sakura, I know being a novelist is hard. And I know what difficulty you suffer from writing. But when the piece is finished, you feel like the sun that shines amidst of a rain shower to form a rainbow. ” mom said with a smile. But the smile left as soon as it had come. “ And that is why I am crestfallen to tell you this: Your novelist career will be put in a lay over. I know it's hard for you to put a temporary stop to your journey to becoming the person you want to be – the world's most famous novelist – but it is the only way for you to have a better education. Getting homeschooled, does not affect your socializing personality and I'm afraid that is the reason why me and Alfred decided to send you to a real school. ”
I don't want to upset mom. She have always cared for me even with the fact that she is only a foster parent and cannot replace my real ones.
I saw the guilt built in her hazel bloodshot eyes. Loose pieces of hair made it's way out of her dirty blonde plait.
Tears streaming down her eyes, begging for me to pity their decision. I cannot depress her once again.
I cannot despise reality all my life. I cannot despise fate forever. I cannot choose the path my Once upon a time leads to. But I can write every chapter of my life, I can make my own decisions. I cannot let the wraith and melancholy of this world overwhelm me. I must not make my life miserable. I must make the right decision. And at this moment, I know what the right decision is.
Finally, I nodded. “ Alright. I cannot depress you any longer with my ignorance. ”
Mom hugged me and wiped her tears. “ I knew you would understand! ”
Although I know that reason she told me is not the main reason to why she needs me, I have five words etched in my mind.
I love my foster mother.
