-Meredith's POV
"MOM, you can't do this, just barge in whenever convenient, I have a life."
"Clearly you do!" She said rolling her eyes motioning towards the silver Porsche rolling out of my driveway and then the blue roses that I abused.
"Do you know that I helped him succeed in a clinical trial, that without your help I was in Doctor's-Today ? Well you haven't considering you've been absent mother!!"
"You don't need a silly boy distracting you, your supposed to be extraordinary-"
"Well like you he made a mistake, but unlike you he learned and decided a life with me in it was worth the sacrifice of a being a little distracted away from surgery, that no matter how devoted to something you are that your heart decides what you do." My mother has never looked at me like that, with guilt maybe even a little compassion. Her white turtleneck and jeans gave her the cold hearted bitch look, that's the understatement of the year.
"My heart beats for surgery Meredith," she takes a breath and I can tell she thinks about her next words carefully. I would be, counseling myself for possible resentment, but then she says, " I thought you got that from me, but your weak like your father."
"Well that may be true Ellis, but my heart beats for Derek Christopher Shepard, who went to a French preschool, who loves fairy boats, who hopelessly devoted to me so yes Doctor Grey I may be like my father but I'm glad I'm nothing like you. You can have this god damn house." I run upstairs and pack all my belongings in one bag. As I call Derek in tears I slide down the bathroom wall and bury my head in my knees with him on speaker and the bathroom door locked.
-THIRD PERSON POV
Ellis quietly walks up the stairs with thoughts being thrown in her mind why Meredith started to not call her mom and instead Ellis or even 'Doctor Grey'. Once she reached the bathroom and hears Meredith sobbing on the phone with Derek, she slides down on the opposite side of the wall and listens to their conversation, "She Doesn't Scare Me Meredith, What Scares Me is Loosing You In the Process.." Right then Ellis Grey then found a little speck of human in her, the hardest speck of all, when you are longing for that love they have, that feeling you once had. Longing for the love she lost in residency. Richard...
