Sitting on the ‘bed’ Elixa stared at Zephyr. He had taken the stool that she was sitting on and moved it across from her. Finally, being close enough to him and not shy enough to stare at him, she studies his body. Every movement he made seemed calculated, every muscle responding to his precise actions. He was of average build, though it seemed strong, and the strength that he had portrayed earlier should not have been found in a man of his size, or even someone slightly more built.

She continued to scan his body, he was now sitting with his legs slightly apart, hands in the front of his body holding onto the stool. Her eyes continued up his body, his shoulders were broad, and if he were to build up muscle, he could do so easily. His chin was rounded and not sharp, and was covered by a dark shadow of hair. Stubble, that was shaped around his mouth, and ran along his jawline which slowly faded to his blonde hair. His hair fell around his face and reached his shoulders, but was kept clean around his face. His eyebrows were dark, and rose in curious way, which led her to his eyes.

As their eyes touched, she got pulled in again. She wanted to look away from shyness, but he held onto them with his gaze.

“Enjoying the view?” he asked. Her eyes left his only to watch his lips move up and down as he spoke. The sentence caused her to falter again.

“I..was just trying to figure you out,” she said as calmly as she could.

“What is there to figure out?” he asked, raising his eyebrows even higher.

“You, are just so, calm. You have helped me countless times today, when I have fallen. Yet you are so gentlemanly, you don’t care for the need of appreciation normally requested from ‘helpful’ guys nowadays.”

“I don’t believe that the value of helping someone should be measured by how well you do it. I think that a person should just feel good for having the ability to help a person. Besides, you always fall around me.” He added the last part with a playful grin. Gosh he recovers from being shy so quickly.

“It has been the whole day, my body just hasn’t been listening to me.”

To this he sniggered, “You speak as though your mind and body are of different thoughts.”

“Only today, since I saw you,” the words dropped to a whisper, but Zephyr’s ears pricked up.

“So, it is because of me?”

“One could say my body has been falling for you.”

He smiled and moved closer, “Does that scare you?”

“Yes and no,” she responded, “Yes, because I barely know you. No, because, there is something about you. You make me feel safe.”

He looked down, breaking eye contact, and whispered, “I don’t get that a lot. Normally I give people a weird vibe.”

“Oohh, you are giving me vibes alright,” she said in a weirdly sing-song voice, as she moved her gaze down to her hands that were holding onto the bed. She had no idea what was going on between them, but she suddenly did not want him sitting on the stool. She did not want to be sitting alone on this bed, which was beginning to feel very empty. And then he did it again.

Slipping onto the bed next to her, as though he could feel what she felt, he placed a gentle index finger under her jaw and lifted her gaze to his. Her body just obeyed his will, as her eyes latched to his again.

“How do you do that?” the question came from her, with her gaze jumping between the two grey eyes looking into her soul.

“Do what?”

“It is like you are reading my mind. You know what I want.”

“You were looking very lonely on the bed. Besides, if you fall again, how I am supposed to catch you from the stool.”

Elixa was certain that her whole body was blushing by now, at least it felt like it. Her whole being was hot, and she felt as though she was going to melt at any moment now, with his finger being the only thing holding her together.

“I have seen you move, I am sure it wouldn’t be a problem for you. That doesn’t mean move back though,” she added in a rush. She realized her body was starting to lean towards him, pressing up against his finger. What was he doing to her?

A cough behind the chair caused her to jump back quickly, sliding along the bed till she reached its end. Looking over to where the cough originated, she saw Alex in just his boxers, standing at the bottom of the stairs. His eyes were half closed and his mouth started in a yawn.

“Wha-at are you guys still doing up” he half sung in his yawn.

Zephyr was quick to answer, his cool demeanor coming through. “We were just getting to know each other, as mutual friends to the great and wonderful Alex.”

Alex raised his eyebrows in sleepy suspicion before turning towards the kitchen, waving his hand over his shoulder in dismissal. Reaching into the fridge he pulled out a bottle of juice, unscrewed the lid and shamelessly drank straight from the bottle. Closing the lid he closed the door, and shuffled his way back to the stairs, giving the couple once last sleepy glance before huffing and started his slow ascent up the stairs.

A door clicked shut upstairs and Elixa sighed deeply. She realized her breath had been held the entire time Alex was mopping around the bottom level. Shaking her head she looked to Zephyr, who had taken the opportunity of Alex’s distraction to move to the couch. Disappointment spread through her, and she could feel her brow furrow.

“You know, it is rather late and we have been working rather hard. We can always continue this tomorrow.” Zephyr’s voice calmed her a bit, but it is not what she wanted.

“I would like that,” Her reply, though short, was all she could muster with her feelings of discontent. She slowly lay down with her face turned towards Zephyr. He eased himself onto the couch, his stormy eyes clearly visible in the low light of the room as they still watched her for a moment. As his eyes closed, so did hers. She thought sleep would still be a while since what she wanted was not within her reach, but her brain raced to bring her dreams, dreams she would not soon forget.
