Arielle's pov:
"I heard he's really hot!" My best friend Jasmine stated, talking about the new English teacher. I rolled my eyes at her for the hundredth time today. The next person that talks about the new English teacher being hot will get a slap to the face.
"Yeah, yeah. That's what everybody is saying and I still couldn't give less of a shit." She stuck her tongue at me.
"You're a buzz kill Arielle, you know that?" I shrugged. I walked through the maze-like corridors until I arrived at my locker. I twisted in the combination until the door opened, showing my study books.
"I'll see you at lunch." I pecked her cheek before grabbing the books I needed, and heading to my first class... English. How ironic. I set my books down onto the spot I've been claiming 'mine' since my Freshman year.
I took my seat and waited until the teacher walks in the room. A few students started walking in the classroom two minutes before the warning bell rings. I always get to my classes early so I don't have to worry about tardiness going on my record. The warning bell rang and everyone walked in the classroom, including the teacher.
"Good morning, ladies and gentleman!" He beamed to the class. He is kind of hot. He had tattoos on his arms, his hair was quiffed up and he had beautiful eyes. I looked around the classroom and you can already see girls making googly eyes at him. I just rolled my eyes and ignored it.
He set his things down on his desk that was placed in front of the room. I suppose Jasmine was right about him. He walked over to the whiteboard and wrote his name in cursive on the board.
I opened up my notebook and took out a pen to write down his name.
"I'm Mr. McCann. I'll be your English teacher this year. You guys are seniors now, so do respect and understand the fact that I will not tolerate disrespect or laziness of any sort." The class mumbled a few incoherent things before returning their attention to the man that could make any girl weak in the knees.
Once today's classes were finished, I met up with Jasmine out by the spot where I usually park my car.
"Hey babe." She engulfed me into one of her signature bear hugs before smirking and pulling away. "So, in all honesty, what did you think of Mr. McCann?" Honestly, I thought he was flawless. Like seriously, the man looked to be some sort of Greek god, but I refused to give her the satisfaction of being right. If I did, I'd never hear the end of it.
"He's alright I suppose. By the way you talked about him, I truly expected better." Her jaw dropped to her knees.
"You've been drinking haven't you?"  I giggled and playfully hit her shoulder before I climbed into the drivers seat. Jasmine got into the passenger side, sighing dramatically.
"You alright?" I questioned, furrowing my eyebrows a bit.
"How could I not be? I'm going to have the world's hottest man as my teacher for a whole year." She said dreamily. I scoffed, rolling my eyes before backing out of the school's crowded parking lot.
"Well, I don't see what all the fuss is about anyways." I said, driving off to the nearest red light. She rolled her eyes and turned on the radio. 'The Night Is Still Young' by Nicki Minaj startedbooming through the car's speakers.
"This is my favorite song by her." I said while tapping the wheel, going along with the beat of the song.
"Me too!"  She announced, grinning from ear to ear. About fifteen minutes or so later, I pulled into Jasmine's driveway to drop her off.
"Thanks for the ride babe. See you tomorrow?" I nodded, leaning in to give her a hug.
"Love you!" I yelled out my car's now rolled down window. She blew me a kiss.
"Love ya too!" And with that, she disappeared into her home, her front door closing behind her. I sighed, once more driving down the road to get home. I smiled in relief as the sight of home came into view. I pulled into the garage, shutting the door before heading inside.
"Mom, Dad!" I yelled. "I'm home!" The sound of my mother's feet padding against the carpeting echoed throughout the living room.
"Hey hon." She said, shooting me a weak smile. I walked over to her to embrace her in a hug.
"Where's dad?" My mom looked down at her socks. Great, we all know what that means...

"He's out drinking with Kyle and Brian." I nodded whilst sinking my teeth into my lower lip. Whenever my dad went out and drank it meant that my parents had gotten into a fight. I wouldn't have been so stressed out about this, but my dad has been going out and drinking a lot lately, meaning my parents had been fighting more than normal.
"I'm sorry mom. Is there anything I can do?" I questioned, concern dripping from each word I spoke.
"There is one thing. Dad took his car and mine hasn't been running properly for some time now. Could I borrow yours for tonight? I'm going to go visit Janette and her kids for a couple of hours."
"Sure!" I pulled my car keys out of my pocket and placed it in the palm of her hand. I hugged her once more before she left. I know that my family is falling apart, but I was raised to be positive no matter what, so that's what I'm going to do. I walked over to my refrigerator to decide on what to make for dinner. I searched through all the shelves before grumbling incoherent complaints. We had nothing to cook, nothing to eat, and no ingredients to make something with. I shrugged, realizing that if I was going to eat tonight, I might as well get some groceries whilst I'm out.
"Mom, can I have twenty dollars to buy some groceries?" I asked my mother, who was in her room doing her hair. She went over to the bed to grab her wallet. She pulled out two twenties when I asked for one.
"Here." She said, forwarding the money towards me. I shook my head and pushed her hand back.
"Mom, I asked for one twenty. Not two." I said, taking a seat on her soft bed.
"Take the money, Arielle. I don't know when your father will be home so take the money." She said with a weak smile. She grabbed my hand and laid the cash in the palm of my hand.
"Thank you, mom. It means a lot but you didn't have to give me fourty dollars." I told her.
"I'm just making sure that it's enough for the groceries. Now go." She said, shooing me off. I chuckled and walked out of her room.
I went in my room to grab my phone and wallet off of my bed. I grabbed my cute little black leather jacket. I went downstairs and walked out of my house to go grocery shopping.
On the way to the supermarket, I passed by my school (since it's right next to it), and saw something that I should've never seen in the first place.
