Many shouts came from every corner of the world. Swords clashed against each other, growls and snarls were shoved into each opponents' face. I stared at the battle before me, crushed at the sight. The loss of life was extreme. For my side, and for the other side (not like I cared for those stupid and evil creatures). In the distance I saw Mr Hoffman my combats teacher fall. He was one of the strongest of us. If he would fall, it was obvious there was no hope for anyone anymore.

But then a gap formed, and through it I saw two monsters attack my own mother's face. Their claws grabbed her arms to prevent her from cutting theirs, and blood matted her hair to her face. She was glaring at the beasts. As soon as I blinked, I saw that she was alone again and up fighting another growing crowd of beasts. She had yet to teach me that trick but... Looking back at the Academy I doubt that would be able to happen in a long time. It looked as if it would crumble down any second. Those creatures climbed the walls, tearing it apart with their bony hands. I choked on a sob and closed my eyes momentarily to compose myself.

Now was not the time to cry. I had a battle to fight.

---------------------------------

I pulled the last box out of the car and heaved it over to the open door where my mom was waiting for me. I couldn't see where I was going, but that wasn't a problem at all. I felt my way around with my feet. Tracing the edges of the pavement before I hit the door's wooden surface. From there it was easy to find my way to the living room - all I had to do was smell the old boxes stench. When I put the box down, I huffed at the pile of boxes.

"Susan, you'll be unpacking those alright? I have to head out and sort some things out before light comes." My mom's voice already disappeared before I could even turn around.

"Yeah, sure like all the other times." I mumbled, pulling the boxes down and looking through them.

"I heard that." Mom's face was next to mine.

I shrieked and almost dropped the box, had it not been caught by her.

Her eyes narrowed and her pupils grew, uh-oh. "SUSAN CLARISSE CARTER YOU SHOULD NOT BE SURPRISED BY SUCH SMALL MOVEMENTS ANYMORE. HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN ALL YOUR TRAINING?!"

My mouth opened and closed, and before I knew it, I was running away from her.

How could she say that to me? After everything that happened. How could she say that to me?

-----

In the midst of my running, I ended up in a park. It was deserted, apart from a few boys lurking under a tree, and from the smell I could pick up I decided it was best to avoid them. I did not was to expose my identity just yet. It's not safe to...

I pulled my hood closer to my neck and wandered around the new place. Birmingham was nothing like my old home, but it would do. It was better than London because it wasn't as crowded, however we could get by with the things here.

Even before she spoke, I heard her footsteps behind me.

A hand grasped my shoulder, and I did everything I could to not growl at her when she forced me to turn around.

"I'm sorry."

My eyes softened. Mother was a hard-headed woman, but when she apologized, she truly meant it.

"Now let's go home."

Home... I don't even know what that is anymore.
