A black beast charged at me, and before I could consciously react, my hand reached out and grabbed its neck before squeezing it. In under a second, the beast dissolved and my only souvenir was it's blood trickling down my arm. I grimaced and wiped it on my shirt.
"Good work Carter." I heard someone scoff.
I turned my head to the side and saw the person I was least expecting. "Wright. How'd you surive?" I asked him.
I witnessed his eyes soften. "Just barely." He whispered, before charging back into the battle with his axe raised high.

I felt so useless lying here in my bed, doing nothing. We've been living here for a week now and so far the only eventful thing that happened was when I caught the red squirrel yesterday while practising my hunting skills. And slightly disappointed with myself that I caught the squirrel instead of the cat I knew I needed to get into better shape otherwise those skills I worked so hard on in the Academy would be wasted.
The Academy... It's actually gone. It's-
"Knock knock." My mom opened the door and held a tray that contained a drink that I wished would go away.
Albeit the hunger in my stomach, I would not let my hands extend to the tray to grab it. I hated that drink with passion. But mom had that glint in her eye, one I knew all too well. She lifted the mug and started swishing it. It caused the smell to move around the room. I could feel it, like fingers that tickled my chin, that caressed my cheeck ever so softly which caused me to lean into it. The fingers then reached my lips, lightly pressing down on it. My mouth parted slightly. Like a tidal wave, the mouthwatering aroma smacked me. Without thinking, I knocked over my own mother and downed the drink in one shot. When I finished licking every surface of the inside of the mug I turned around to my mother who was groaning and leaning on her side.
"Oh my gosh, I am so sorry!" I immediately dropped the mug and rushed to help her up, but she swatted my hands away in an annoyed manner.
"Don't touch me." She snarled.
"Well then why did you have to come in here?!" I growled back at her.
"Because you needed that drink."
"I can survive perfectly well without having it."
She smirked, "oh really?"
She got me there.
I don't understand her. She was kind to me the first minute, then the next she was someone who was ruthless. Well I couldn't blame her to be honest. It was just nature for us to be ruthless. And with that ruthless attitude in me as well, I turned around and left her. Wiping my mouth before I left in case there was some left.
"You'll be back right?" I heard the worry in her voice.
There it was again, that bi-polar attitude of hers.
"Yeah. Yeah." I muttered, grabbing my tench coat before leaving the house.
I looked up and smiled at the moon. The wind was strong tonight and it was perfect.

I suppose I have a lot of inspiration coming up at me that I updated twice. I hope you liked the chapters. Yes, I can see that I have still got a lot of development to do, but it's just the beginning of the story where things are usually boring. - I hope :)
