I woke up to find my self feeling groggy. I took in all the features of the room soon realizing I was in a hospital. I couldn't remember what happened to me neither could l possible try.The door opened and there stood a young man with messy black hair and sapphire blue eyes. I noticed he seemed a bit...off, His body language said so. He made no eye contact to me and seemed to be fidgeting with his fingers.
"Ah good, you are awake, I am glad you are fine" The man said.
"Excuse me but what happened to me and what's your name?" I asked him. He finally stared over at me.
" You were in a car crash and now you have two broken legs" The man spoke.
I pulled the covers off and revealing my legs which were wrapped in bandages. Tears dripped down my cheeks. Then I felt a soft cloth against my cheeks.
"I know it's a lot to handle but on the bright side it'll heal soon" he lightly smiled at me. I took the tissue and wiped my cheeks.
He brought in a wheel chair setting it on the side of the bed. I looked at him in confusion.
"By the way what is your name?" I asked.
The young man looked up at me. "My name is Shaun Murphy" he said
Shaun awkwardly carried me to the wheel chair and placed me gently on the seat. He moved to the handles of the wheel chair and rolled it out of the room.
There were doctors and patients that crowded the halls. I looked up at Shaun who almost looked like he was going to have a panic attack. Then he shook his head and moved forward.
"Hi Shaun" a female voice spoke.
I turned my attention to a girl with a bundle of brown curly hair and she seemed really beautiful. The way she smiled and her skin tone was perfect.
"Hello Clare, I'm just showing Miss (F/N) around" he nervously swayed his body.
"Alright, well I have to go see Mr. Melendez. See you later Shaun" the girl waved as Shaun waved nervously retreating his hand.
I met a couple doctors on the way and I was putting the puzzle pieces together on what was wrong with Shaun. Could it be?.....no it couldn't.
We were on the roof and Shaun Murphy stopped the wheel chair against a wall. He was criss crossed a couple of steps away from me.
"So why are we on the roof?" I asked.
"It's too loud out down stairs, I wanted to go somewhere quite, somewhere more peaceful".
I looked up at the sky. The morning sky wasn’t gray, but by soothing lavender and brilliant amber. The colors merged into neon pink and peach. It was beautiful.
"Shaun I have a question and I hope you don't feel offended.." I went on.
Shaun only stared at me.
"Are you autistic?"
"Yes"
I didn't know what to say next. I hope I didn't hurt his feelings. Before I knew it Shaun did something I didn't expect. He hugged me but why? He pressed his face against my neck and I felt tears stream down his eyes.
I caressed his hair and he laid his head in my lap. This was such a peaceful momment. I felt more calm now. Even though I had broken legs and I was in a depression, I found someone to be with. Someone who could be there for me even though he had problems of his own.
I loved this momment, I want it all to last for ever...
