Come on.You have to admit it.Bus stops can be can be a miserable place. You don't be having no on to talk to.Then another thing is.When your days already not going good,it starts to rain. What a bummer!

For me,I travel from work and back,so I know a few faces and I had attempted to engage in one or two of them in a conversation but to no avail.

Well, one evening,I was pissing down, cold and very windy when I saw a familiar face.A woman perhaps, in her mid to late 40s trying to get to the bus stop with a lot of shopping bags.

"Would you like a hand with those?"I asked.

She looked up a little shocked."Oh yes please.I think my fingers are going to drop off."she replied.

I took half of the bags from her.

By now I was,my jeans were sticking to my legs and the wind had pulled my hood off and my hair was plastered flat.Looking at her,she was much the same. Her long dark hair was running with rain water.

We said little as we walked but when we reached the stop she thanked me.

"That's okay, you get off at the same stop as me,so if you need a hand getting them home I'd be happy to oblige."I said

"I think I'll take you up on that.I'm Francine."she said with and her round face lit up.

"I'm stan"I replied as the bus rounded the corner.

We were the only ones at the stop but soon as the doors opened,I said"Ladies first.

"Not been called a lady in a while."another smile and a giggle.

We paid and found seats.I sat behind her with the bags by me.

"Shopping for a month?"I asked.

"No,only two are mine. The rest are my elderly neighbors."she said

"That's so thoughtful. Not many people would do that."I replied

She twisted in her seat and looked at me"You think so?"she asked

"I do"I said giving her my best smile.

"Can I ask you how old you are?"she asked

"I'm 18,I'll be 19 next month."I replied

"Really?!You have the attitude of someone older."she said

"I blame my parents for that, both of them are old fashioned."I replied

"Believe me.It's not their fault.Cherish it and them."She replied.

The bus for to our stop so we gathered the bags between us and got off."Thank you"I said to the driver, Francine glanced over her shoulder at me.

"As the bus pulled away she asked,"Do you always thank the driver?"

"Well,he did his job well so I was showing my appreciation for him. After all, he did get us here in one piece."I said.

"I never thought of it like that."She said

We walked around the corner up the street.

"Here we are. This is my place."she said.

"I'll put the bags down for you inside,OK."I said

"No, come in.At least let me make you tea or coffee."she said

"You sure?I'll be dripping dripping all over the place."I said

"That's fine.I'll be doing the same."she replied
