"Run" a voice yells behind me.

I don't hesitate and run for my life. I hear footsteps behind me getting closer with every step so I continue running through the pitch black hallways. After already taking multiple turns and feeling the walls every few seconds, I look down to hopefully see my feet at least but nothing. All I can see is darkness. I take yet another turn and a strong arm suddenly grabs me, pulls me to the side, and I hear a door close. I assume they pulled me into a room and it's still pitch black. A different voice from earlier tells me to be quiet so I do as told. The first set of footsteps stops in front of the door, huffs, snarls, then murmurs something I don't quite catch. It then stalks in the other direction and I wait a few moments to make sure it's gone. I knew I shouldn't have come here... I think to myself ...but I guess my curiosity got the better of me... My thoughts are interrupted by the light turning on to reveal a beautiful suite and bathing room fit for royalty or upper class at least. I hear a small but devilish chuckle from a dark corner of the room, between the bed and window, shrouded in darkness.

"Who's there," I stutter and another laugh comes from the same corner.

"Krista, Krista, Krista," the voice says. It's the same voice that brought me in here.

"Tsk tsk. You know you shouldn't have come here. Especially at this time of night," the voice trails off and takes a step forward. I can now see the outline of a man wearing black dress shoes and pale arms.

"They all told you not to come here. Have you not heard the legends? The stories of the ones who came here before you? Or did you just choose to ignore all the cautions and warnings?" He takes a final step and reveals a boy with messy brown curls, freckles, and green eyes with a tint of... red? He looks to be about 16 or 17 and I realize how tall he is once I stare for a minute.

"I suggest you stop staring, dear Krista or I might think you're checking me out," he says with a smirk. I take this chance to see if the legends are true. I look straight at his mouth but before I can determine if they're there or not, the lights shut off with a snap.

"Curious, aren't we, Krista," he says clicking his pen. He begins to come closer to me and a warm hand is placed on my cold cheek. "But I will show you one of my secrets," he whispers. His lips brush against the edge of my ear, which causes me to shudder. With his hand still on my face, he moves the other towards my hip. I brace for the impact, but it never comes.

From what I can see, he shuts his eyes for a moment then opens them. The green is gone and is replaced by a glowing red, illuminating the whole room with a red hue. That confirms part of the legend, but there is more than one creature with that characteristic. I reach my hand up, but before I can make contact, the lights come on and he's gone. I walk over to the door and attempt to turn the knob but it doesn't budge. I sigh and figure I should go to sleep. I go over to the closet and find a baby blue nightgown trimmed in lace. Slipping it over my head, I snuggle into the warm vanilla scented sheets and fall asleep almost instantly.
