The sun was setting, sinking below the trees, creating a spiral of pink and orange and the most beautiful colours, all in the sky at dusk. The surroundings were dark, as the sun's magnificent exit drained the light from the world, and a gentle breeze was ruffling the hair of anyone outside.
On a hill, a while from her house was a girl. She wasn't smiling. Her expression was empty, hollow, as she stared at the sunset. The wind blew over her, pushing her short acid green hair into her face, and she didn't bother to brush it away.
The girl was sad. She was alone. She watched the emerging stars create a dream, her dream for a better world and a better life. On each star that appeared, she closed her eyes and made a separate wish.
The girl wished away poverty. She wished away neglect, and abuse. She wished for equality and for kindness. And last of all, when the sun's time was long spent and the moon's reign had began, she wished for herself.
She dreamt for herself.
The last star in the sky, when all the world's evils had been dreamt away, she thought of herself.
The dreamer smiled, and stood up to gaze upon the moon's bright surface. Two words left her lips.
Then she was gone.
The wind whistled by, slowly, calmly, and carried the dreamer's words along.
"Thank you."
