it was around 10 pm when i made my way to alex's room for the new years party. i'm pretty excited. i just don't like that haley will be there, but that's okay.

the door was just open for anyone to come in, so i didn't have to knock.

the music was loud, but not so loud that you could barely hear eachother speak. so that's good, i guess. i really know how parties work.

at first i didn't see anyone that i knew, but after a minute or 2 i spotted a little group of people that i knew.

"mitch!" troye said when i came into his sight.

"hi guys." i said to the group of people.

2 of the people who were standing in the group i've never seen before. they were probably mark and mason.

i looked around for scott, but he wasn't here yet.

betty was there with alexis, alex was walking around somewhere, troye and jacob were there, travis, who i assume are mark and mason and those are the only people i know.

i went up to the table with drinks to get some alcohol.

travis got next to me and did the same.

"how are you holding up?" he asked me.

"pretty good. you?"

"eh. i don't know anyone here besides the people from the group chat."

"well, me neither so i guess were the same on that part." i tried to find something to drink, but didn't really see anything i recognized.

travis handed me a red cup of something.
"try this." he said.

welp, sure hope he doesn't poison me.

he won't.

probably.

eh, i'll risk it.

i took the cup from his hand and took a sip. it tasted like something, but i couldn't place it.

"what is this?" i asked him, taking another sip.

"i mixed some vodka with this stuff..." he held up a bottle.
"i honestly don't know what it is, but it's good." he laughed.

"it's really good, actually." i downed the rest of the cup and put it down on the table.
"you're good at that."

"thank you." he smiled.

i looked past him and saw scott come in with haley. it's like it went in slow motion because of the way he looked and walked in. he looked so good.

i couldn't look away for some reason. but when his eyes trailed off to me, i immediately focused back on travis.

"so... what major are you planning on doing?" i asked to try and start up a conversation with him.

"something with art... or maybe theater. how about you?"

"oh eh, music."

"right. you're really good at singing." he said.

"aw, thank you." i blushed and smiled.

i remember when scott said that. that was such a long time ago.

we ended up talking some more about college, until jacob tapped on my shoulder.

"can i talk to you for a minute?" he asked me.

"sure, what's up?"

"not here." he grabbed my arm and dragged me out to the hallway, meeting scott along the way.
