Year 1982
Monday, 4:00pm
“Class dismissed.” Mrs. Cruz ended with a sigh. The whole class started clearing all their stuffs, chattering about places they could go after school, some were laughing about how our teacher look terrified when Carlo spilled that she was dating a 19 year old student a week ago. She’s already at her 40’s but still single. She never tried to confess anything why and even if she did, I wouldn’t care. That’s her life. Maybe she really just wanted younger boys or realized at her age she needs somebody. I thought.
“You don’t want to be like Mrs. Cruz, right Annie?” Carlo smirked.
“Maybe. And it’s none of your business.” I said, rolling my eyes away from him.
“It’s my business baby. I mean, when I can have your YES?”
“In your dreams.” I said before leaving our class room.
I heard his friends’ laughed, fading slowly as I walked away. It was been a year since he started courting me, that’s what he, always, defines it. For me, he wasn’t. I had these feelings he was just trying to make fun with me but he already reached a year, so maybe. Maybe. But then I didn’t mind, he’s not my type anyway. “Jerk.” I whispered as I grab my wrist watch inside my bag’s little pocket, 4:15. Jeepneys stuck in traffic, honking their horns simultaneously making highways worse than ever. The sky was dark and was I about to rain. I rushed to a coffee shop just a meter away from our University and immediately open my umbrella. The rain started to drizzle as I expected.
