True Beauty
If what you seek is beauty,
Look into your eyes.
If what you hear is ugly,
Cover your ears from the lies.
If what you taste is bitter,
Let your lips bring sweetness.
If what you feel is somber,
Let your heart be filled with gladness.
If the unfeeling cold makes you empty,
Look for His warmth in the morning sun.
If you taste only melancholy,
Cover your lips and don’t let it stun.
If you hear bitter words loud and sweet words faint,
Speak for yourself with love.
If you seek perfection but lose yourself along the way,
Love yourself—‘tis the best gift of all.
If you think you’re not beautiful,
Turn around and look again.
What you hear isn’t always truthful,
Because even if being pretty costs pain,
Who and what you are is true beauty.
Even if you mold yourself to the image of society,
Who and what you are is your reality.
