Finally.  Everything is in place and finished, looking around you’d think it was the actual wedding.  No such luck, engagement party and no one’s arrived yet... brilliant.   If only my Ma was here... I know what she’d be doing right now, fussing. Fussing over the tables and the buffet food ‘It’s not for everyone you know. Not everyone likes a volovont.  What if there’s those veggie types... fussy buggers’

“Evie? What’s the matter?” a panicked voice pushes through the bubble and drags my attention to the person crouching down beside me.

Matt sits there all dressed up, his sandy coloured hair gelled into spikes his blue eyes holding mine searching my face for any signs of worry.

“Nothing, I’m just thinking about what my Ma would be like right now.” I smile at the floor contemplating what life would be like if they hadn’t have died..

“You’re beautiful, got an amazing career and everything going for you. She’d be so proud of you Evie.”  His hand brushes my cheek careful not to touch my hair I’d been sorting all day. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with someone that loves me like this.

“I hope so.”

“She would be now come on, I think I spot my mum and dad!” he smiles my way extending a hand to pull me up. Hello future family it’s nice to meet you.

Well that was a success, everyone greeted and they look happy...at least I think so. I’m too busy faffing over Mark and Danny..the buggers are half cut already it’s only been a couple of hours. That’s what I get for inviting my brother, always a bad influence he’s got Matt’s brother drunk too...fucker but I wouldn’t trade him for the world.

“Dan! No! Dan, don’t eat that!”

“I’m starvingggg!”

“It’s not time for food yet! Go and dance or something will you, look Mark’s already there. Go join in before you make trouble!” I shout shoving him on his way, bloody liabilities both of them.

Warm arms, wrapping around my waist a heavy head settles on my shoulder. It can only be one person Matt.

“Hey, you look happy.” He murmurs nuzzling into my neck breathing in the perfume on my skin.    “I like that, it’s my favourite.”

“I’m happy and oh don’t I know that.” I smile turning in his arms to face him, his beautiful face staring down at me.

“I can’t wait to marry you, finally my happy ending. I love you.” I smile and kiss him

“Oi, save that for later you two. Someone wants you.” A familiar voice turns us to look at the stage. Oh god.

Mark and Danny stand there all kitted up, wobbling slightly but there none the less, how embarrassing.

“Right! Hello, everyone. I’m sure you know me, I’m Evie’s brother Mark and this is Danny. Formally known as The Script..well..yeah the Script. So we’ve been thinking since my baby sister’s getting married we’ll write a song..so we did. Hope you enjoy it!”

“Dance with me?” he whispers pulling me towards the floor, I’m going red, I hate being in the spotlight.

“ I hate you for this” I whisper resting my head on his shoulder as we sway slowly to the song, I’ll give it to Mark and Danny they’re amazing...even half drunk.

“You don’t hate me. You love me.”

“I know. I can’t think of anywhere and anyone I’d rather be with right now, I’m so happy and excited to marry you..”
