I started reading this book 1 in the afternoon. I really didn't know what to expect since I'm not the type of reader who would read the back of the book for the summary. So in first chapters, I got confused with the 'numbers' that were used, like Ones, Twos... I just bet it was significant because of the capitalization. Then on later chapters before I realized and understood that the number thingy was the caste system; the author should've explained that in the very first chapter so some readers - slow comprehension like me - would not be flipping back to the pages just to read the whole thing again and finally understood. But I admit the whole idea was Rad. I love how passionate Aspen and America on their love for each other despite of their caste difference. And when the Selection started, it was just me or what because I almost imagined the same setting as the Hunger Games. (When the selected are being announced and being picked up, and the waving and airport scene all the way to the palace.) It was like Hunger Games but, the Selected was fighting for the Crown. Or Him. And for the Prince, I never thought the prince would be that - soft, gentle and I don't know, tender? I mean, he was perfect! I love the fact that he was looking for someone to love and someone he would love and not just for someone to help him on his responsibilities of the country. I just love his character so much that if Selection was really real, I wouldn't think twice to join. For America, I love her character too, she's being herself and I love that. I love how the Prince ignored or caste and loved her. I love the whole thing, close enough to true love. I died many times while reading because of how sweet Prince Maxon was, the whole story was funny too and really entertaining like I felt like watching a movie and not reading a book. Chapter 19 when I started feeling the same as what America felt. Like being confused and assuming too much just because the Prince treated her that way. It came up to me that, yeah, it was a competition so the Prince should be fair and treat everyone special like how he treated America. It saddened me. I kinda relate to it. Going back - like I said, I started to read The Selection around 1 in the afternoon and I just realized I couldn't let go of the book. It was too good to be cliff hanged. So I kept reading without realized that it was almost midnight. (I should've finished it earlier only if I wasn't disturbed, thanks Dad.) And after I've read it, I thought of making myself a coffee and grab for the second book. But I realized I need some sleep. I tried to sleep but the whole story really got into me that it didn't make me feel sleepy at all, cutting long story short - I stayed until 4 in the morning and woke up around 6AM and started reading the second book; The Elite.
P.S. hope you'd have fun reading The Selection as much as I did and read also the book two; The Elite!
P.P.S. READ IIIIIIIIIIIT! No regrets, just fun and giddy and 'awestruck'. ;)
