A crying mess. That is how Kuroko was when he reached home after he and Akashi said their painful good-byes.

~ First day of High School~

Kuroko's POV:

Just like any school, the first day started with all the clubs recruiting for members. As usual, I passed by everyone without any of them noticing my presence. As I looked up from the book I am reading I saw the bulletin board with the map of each booth. I then walked my way towards the basketball booth seeing two people. A girl and a boy, as always both of them didn't notice me. So I simply took the spare application form and filled it up, after doing so I left it on the table and left.

Akashi's POV:

Rakuzan Highschool, a highschool well known for its basketball team for winning 5 consecutive times the championship, is fit for someone like me. As the car dropped me off in front of the gates I simply walked towards the basketball booth. Seemingly impossible due to the number of people recruiting for their clubs, as I walked the ruckus seemed to quiet down and they gave way for some reason. "Well, isn't it the famous Akashi Seijurou." Eiji Shirogane, the team's coach greeted me.

"I'm here for basketball." I simply stated unamused. He nodded his head and gave me a form that seemed to be filled already. "I see that I am anticipated to be part of the basketball club." "Well, not just anticipated as part, but you will be the captain. I have talked to the others and they agreed to you being the captain even if you're a first-year." All I needed was to sign and I'm good to go. After encountering the basketball club I walked to my classroom and to my surprise I saw someone with those same blue locks which somehow caught me off guard and as the bell rang I noticed it was all in my head.

Kuroko's POV:

I sat down on the same spot I sat back in Teiko, a seat at the far end near the window. I placed my book down and closed my eyes reminiscing the moments with my friends and especially with Akashi kun. All those memories seemed like it just happened yesterday. I shook my head softly and sighed then looked out of the window, seeing all those students smiling and happily making their way to recruit members. But what caught my eye was a redhead person but his were darker and had some black locks. I observed him, he had a good height for a first year, and he has a great build as well. I finally knew that he may be the light that will make me a good shadow.

As the first day of classes concluded the first session for the basketball club. I entered the gymnasium and saw that all the new recruits were lined in a row. I then made my way in the line, while the second years were introducing themselves. The club's captain is Hyūga Junpei and a female named Aida Riko who introduced herself as the team's coach. Everyone else was startled to have a female coach but her asking to take our shirts off were even more surprising. She examined everyone's body built and just as I thought this red head guy next to me was impressive. "Is that all? Hmmm... Kuroko kun? Kuroko Tetsuya? It seems that he's not here." Aida senpai said. "Ummm Senpai, I'm here." I raised my hands as I was standing in front of her. Startled by me she stumbled back and screamed in shock. "U-uh Kuroko-kun please take your shirt off." I did as told and she looked somewhat dissatisfied with my built. After the formal introductions, we were then dismissed.

I followed Kagami kun to an open court nearby. He has been practising his dribbling and shooting until I caught the ball in his shot. "Hey, when did you get here?" He asked me. "Uhm, Why are you here?" I asked and he said it's nothing. "You don't smell nice. You don't have an aura of power on you. I came to play good basketball." Kagami kun said, "Well then let's see how good you are Kagami kun." I said as I took off my uniform. We had a few minutes of playing before he stopped. "HEY! ARE YOU JOKING WITH ME?! I DON'T HAVE TIME TO WASTE ON YOU. You said you're part of this so-called generation of miracles, are they this weak too?" He asked all pissed. "No. If you go up against them you'll be crushed" I stated. "I was testing your strength." He sighed and walked away after saying I should just quit ball.

The next day of practice we needed to play along with the second years. And at the time where we first years were about to lose that's when I showed what I can do allowing us first-years to win and show Kagami's strength too. On my way home I went to that food chain that my friends and I go to in the past and ordered my regular milkshake sitting at my usual spot when Kagami sat down as well with a mountain of burgers. "Ack! When did you get there?!" "I was here the whole time." I replied as I sipped on my shake. He tossed me a burger and said that it was for winning earlier today. As we finished I followed him outside.

"Kagami kun, please be my light. If you wish to beat the Generation of Miracles you need a shadow. A shadow grows darker if the light is brighter. Let's help each other reach victory." I said determined. He sighs then nods hesitantly before we part our ways. As I reached home I washed and took a change of clothes before snuggling into the big stuffed toy Akashi kun got for me in our first date.

Akashi Seijurou just wait for me we'll meet halfway. I'll make sure that I'll bring you all back to who you were and truly are. I thought as a tear dropped from my eyes before I fell asleep.

Akashi's POV:

As I walked to the rooftop I saw a third year reading a book which reminded me of a certain bluenette. I then went to the gym and started practising with my new teammates. Three were part of the so-called Uncrowned Kings. "Um, captain we have a letter of a third-year who wishes to resign." Shouta the manager of the team said. As I checked on who it was, it was that guy on the rooftop, Mayuzumi Chihiro. I refused to accept the letter and told Shouta to make sure that Mayuzumi attends practice tomorrow.

The next day Chihiro was present and he showed his skills. It was nothing impressive but he had something similar to Tetsuya, misdirection. I observed him further before deciding that he may be like Tetsuya, Rakuzan's phantom sixth man.

"Chihiro." I called his name on the rooftop the same spot he was where I first saw him. "Don't quit. I as the captain refuse to accept your resignation. I see something in you, your potential." I said as I snatched the book in his hands to get his attention. "Eh?! Don't joke with me. First of all, I'm older than you. Secondly your just new so what?" He answered pissed. "It doesn't matter if I call you senpai if you're not better than me. Think about it, you'll be part of the lineup if you still stay." I returned his book before leaving. "Hey, I refuse your stupid offer." He says before I finally leave him.

The next day of practice Chihiro, as expected, was there and decided to stay, saying it wasn't because I told him so. The practice was over and as I went home I passed by the same shop we all went to before, I bought the milkshake which was Tetsuya's favourite. While drinking it on the car a tear slipped my eye and left an ache in my heart. I never expected to act this way after all my other self was the one who loves him. But we are just one, aren't we? Going to my room I washed and unconsciously wore the jacket that Tetsuya gave me on our first date. Every day, after we parted our ways, were slow and painful. Tetsuya please wait for me, I'll make sure to be back to you.

I promise...
