Into The Virtual Worlds

          The world as you know it is more different then you think. Things began to change drastically after the third world war. the population dropped drastically after all the carnage. After a while people stopped believing it was ever going to end. When the war was just finishing up the year was 2552. It was to be one of the longest wars ever in history. Almost ten years have past and finally we are at peace. Or at least that's what we believed. The whole world was wallowing in the peace that has finally become. But in reality the war as we knew it has just changed its landing place. In the year 2549 a bioengineer and some scientists worked together on a new device to use in the war. It took months of researching and learning different ways that would suit the ways of war but alas they came upon an idea. They discussed it over with the general of the war on a device unlike any other. This device could only be used on captured victims. Its use was to discover the secrets of the enemies they fought. These secrets could be a way to win the war. It was simple the device was a helmet that you put on the captives head. After pushing the on switch the person began to lie dormant. So dormant it made them look lifeless. The reason being is because this device would transfer people in a new world. A so called virtual world. One they would be able to fight for there ability to leave alive. The catch they would give the captives? If they won they would get the locations of there hidden bases in the war. But there was no winning in this game. The creator of the device and lead Bioengineer was named Dante Kahn. He was the man behind the idea of tricking our captives into thinking they had a chance. It was simple we put this helmet on you and you go to this world. He puts on the other helmet and goes to that world. Then they fight to the death there but in reality no one really dies. The trick up Dante's side was that his helmet was modified so he couldn't die. He was invincible. He gave them hope inside there helmet by giving them amazing weapons and guns and all that. While he just had a simple sword and no armor. Dante would always win and always get the secrets he was after. The captives even after giving the secrets would die right after leaving no survivors on the enemy side. After several captives and secrets to win. This device was how we won the war two years later. A year has past now and all of civilization is trying to just live in peace once again.

          As the year continued I would watch the news and see how the world was living in peace. People re-opening stores and restaurants. Everyone had a home for once. But once 2553 struck everything began to go downhill. Riots broke out. People began to not live in peace anymore. Nearing the end of the year I could just see we were on the brink of another war once again. People throwing slurs at each other being rude and terrorist attacks left and right. The year 2554 was when I knew peace on earth was about to be forever. A company unlike any other just as the world was at its ends again sprouted out of nowhere and began advertising a very special device for people. The companies name was Unitus Inc. The creation they made was a virtual helmet video game where you could go and relive the old days. The days the history books called the Medieval days. I guess in those times there was knights and sword fights and wonderful creatures to find. The ultimate gaming device and game all in one. They called it the Holocon 2000. Interesting right? Sounds exactly like the one I described in the war. I wouldn't of been apart of this device if I'd known it was an ex war device created into a game. But once I heard it was only 100 dollars for the device plus the game. Who would pass up such a wonderful deal. Once I got the device I was apart of the 3/4ths of the world who played this game. 

          I'm sure you're wondering who is the one telling you all this information. Who am I? My name is Marcus. Through out this story I'm going to tell you I think its best we just stay on a first name basis. I'm a 23 year old male. After 2017's gender confusion trend as the years passed it got gradually worse each year. So I thought by now it would be appropriate for me to say what I am as well. During the war when I was 17 my dad died protecting our household from army invaders. He won that battle, but lost his life in return. I never really got to learn who my father really truly was. I was just becoming an adult I never got to discuss or learn adult things from him. He was always to busy trying to make the best for this family. Once he passed I decided I would try and make that my goal just for him. I never knew my mother she was never in the picture since birth. My dad always told me she was just some low life who never wanted me in the first place. Still didn't stop the fact that I wished to know who she was or where she was. I kept the house and got a job at 18 to keep myself busy and to supply myself with food. During the war most places weren't open and or even there. So keeping a job was quite difficult at the time. I mostly just hopped around retail stores. They were the ones always open even with gunfire and violence right out the door. Money is all that mattered to them. I of course can't say I enjoyed the retail stores in fact they were probably the worst jobs of them all. I was probably robbed 4 times during the 5 years working in it. But the day I heard about the Holocon coming out it was the day I finally put my money towards something worth my time.
