david's pov
i want to see her but i know she can't be around me. i need her. today hasn't been right without her. she makes everything better. it's like when she's around, everything is in place.
i miss her so much, i miss her smile, her laugh, her habit of biting her lip, everything. i lay here thinking about her nonstop. thinking about what it'd feel like to have her hands intertwined with mine. i'm in love with her. i know she doesn't love me like i love her but that's okay, i love her anyways.
i turned on the tv to watch youtube, while i sat there moping. i heard something hit my window i but ignored it. i heard it again, but this time it was repeating over and over, like a tap. i decided to go figure out what it was. i lifted up my curtains to reveal the most beautiful sight. liza. i gazed at her through the window before she interrupted me.
"are you gonna let me in or what?" she asked.
i quickly lifted up the window and she crawled through.
"what are you doing here? i thought you weren't allowed-"
"i don't care. you're my best friend and my adoptive father isn't gonna stop me from seeing you," she told me.
my smile grew. she walked closer to me so that we were inches apart. her eyes met mine and she pulled me into an embrace.
"thank you," liza muttered.
"for what?" i asked.
"for always being there for me. for caring."
at that moment i wanted to tell her i was in love with her. i wanted to tell her so badly, but i knew i couldn't. that would just make things worse and i can't do that to her.
she detached herself from me and began to climb out of the window.
"come on, loser," she said to me.
i climbed through the window and made my way up to the top of the roof where liza was.
"isn't it pretty?" she asked, looking up at the stars.
i looked up at the bright stars and saw an unusual shape.
"oh look it's you," i said while pointing at the stars.
"that looks nothing like me. it looks like a deformed troll."
"close enough," i joked.
she scowled at me and hit my arm playfully.
we lay there all night stargazing, talking, laughing, and making jokes. i could feel my fingers bump hers as i rested my arm by my side. i slowly slipped my finger on top of hers. liza saw what i attempted to do, so she interlocked her fingers with mine and looked at me with her beautiful eyes. liza's eyes weren't just any ordinary eyes. Her eyes were the color of roasted chestnuts with rims of dark chocolate. i couldn't help but smile like an idiot.
it's funny how a person can make your day so much better. this was the best feeling. being here with the right person. connecting with the person you love more than anyone and anything.
this was love.
