Chapter 1

Andrei.

'Brace yourself' exhaled Hanna, my best friend since the day I came into this world, quite literally, our mothers were best friends too. Together in our uniform we stood side by side, the red gates towering above us to our school, it was different this time though. This year we're the eldest, alongside hauling a large amount of pressure on being responsible and setting an example for the rest of the school. Saint Peters is a private school, the huge building stretches for acres in it's own land of fresh cut grass , the familiar trees I saw since the first time I stepped foot on this land now grew old and wise with as more knowledge about the school than those who have been here for the whole five years. Eventually I began to gain respect for their leaves and branches they grew on and the mountains of mess they made in Autumn, they sort of protected the school from any inconveniences.

'It's all work this year. Right? Hard work and get through our last year.' Hanna said, smiling and nodding to herself. Her chocolatey eyes narrowed in the sun and glinted, shining with such anticipation it made me feel guilty, that I should be keen too, but I managed a slight exhalation. The breeze picked her gold hair up, exposing her delicate features, just by looking at my best friend so happy I felt as though we were thirteen again. We stared at the highest point of the top of the menacing steel poles, thinking, as children skirted past us with their school bags floating behind them, eager to get in before the bell rings.

'Skye, Hanna!' shrieked Stacey Turner from the top of the hallway, she was literally squeezing her way through first year kids, her hands flapping with flyers in her Almost Appropriate Wedged Footwear whilst we both fumbled through our lockers. Lessons begin as usual. Hanna turned to me, expecting for me to speak to her. I made it look as though I was still looking for my class books.

She stared at me for a moment. 'Oh for Gods sake.' She mumbled between gritted teeth. I gave her a weak smile in response, well, I wasn't really fond of her! I finally found my history books and yanked them out. Stacey came, her baby face beaming with sensation. She paused for a second waiting for us to talk to her first.

'Hee-ey Stace! How was your summer?'

'So prolonged. I was actually waiting for school if I'm totally honest with you.' I widened my eyes at this statement. She was always so chirpy it annoyed me, I noticed her nails were each painted a different colour and topped with some kind of green gem stone, her eyelashes were coated with at least five layers of mascara and her corally cheekbones shimmered and stood high with the help of dark bronzer. Her tie was decorated with colourful badges of familiar and some unfamiliar bands, and instead of the school uniform blazer she wore a thin navy cashmere cardigan. Needless to say, she looked 10 times more gorgeous than I've ever looked the past four years.

She rushed to the statement which I think was whole reason she was actually talking to us.

'So have you guys heard about the new guy?' My attention switched on to their conversation then. Each year me and Hanna looked forward for the arrivals of new kids, specifically speaking of good looking boys. I shut the locker door.

'No, what's he like?' I said quickly.

'Well, I got to chat with him for a while.' Great! She was starting to irratite me again just when I thought -

'His hair's like black and gelled up and all that, his got the whole 'grease' 60's thing going on with it, theirs something manly and chivalrous about him, I think it's his height. Pretty tall for a seventeen year old.' I'm glad she tried but good for her for not choosing literacy because unfortunately her descriptive skills were slow, the imaging in my head just wasn't working for me.
