It was Sunday, the fourth day of May when Serine fixed her hair into pretty pigtails hanging on her shoulders. Her friends say, that she looks good with that kind of style. She decided to go out with her bestfriend, Raii today, because ever since they got the bad news, Raii decided to spend more recreative time and make her stay productive and worth while, they're celebrating it during the fourth day of the month and It means so much to the both of them.
Serine teared up remembering when she heard the news out a month ago, but she has to be strong for her bestfriend because acceptance is the only key to this unfair world.
Serine walked to Raii's house with a genuine smile plastered on her face.
"What now, Cia?" Raii groaned in frustration because it's just nearly ten o'clock in the morning when Serine slash Cia woke her up from her sweet slumber and told her to get dressed. Raii was never a morning person. Only Serine can change that.
They went to Eastwood, an open mall where they could stroll peacefully with a serene background.
"Aish pabo! It's our day! Four remember?" Raii stopped and stared blankly at Serine.
It's becoming worse
Serine thought to herself. But she understands, she will always understand.
"I'm sorry, I didn't remember. You know my head is pretty bad right?" Raii chuckled but secretly shook her head to hide the pang on her chest that hit her just now because she felt bad. "Don't hate me Cia, arasseo?" She gave Serine a faint smile.
Serine felt the slight pain in her chest, but she smiled it away. She nodded at Raii and gave her weak smile as a sign of that 'it's okay, it's alright'. It was a sign of deterioration, Serine understood. Of course, she would never hate Raii. How could you hate someone like Raii who is so sweet and happy?
How could you hate someone who is dying?
"Let's go buy ice cream!" Raii clapped, Serine took her hand and led the way to an ice cream parlor. They found one that didn't have so many people in it, maybe it was because it's too early to have ice cream at this time of the morning. Yeah. It was too early for ice cream, but they both love it so much that they can't say no.
"Strawberry?" Serine asked as she looked over the glass, behind it was full of bright colored, luscious different flavors of ice cream. She saw Raii nodded happily from her perspective. Serine was slowly moving to the counter whilst looking at the flavors. Raii backed away and let Cia slash Serine choose her own order, she then found a comfortable seat near the garden by the window. She sighed and found the sight beautiful and stunning.
Two months left to see this beautiful world. Two months left to appreciate everything.
"Maam, good morning!" The guy behind the counter greeted Serine im a happy tone, but Serine was still staring by the glass, hesitating whether to pick Strawberry flavor or Chocolate Mint flavor.
"Um, I'd like to order two pints of Strawberry ice cream." Still looking by the glass, trying to be sure if he likes it and is sure of it, the guy behind the counter fumbled through the cash registration and punched Serine's order. "Two pints of condensed happiness coming right up! That would be $25 maam." Serine broke her stare across the glass and fumbled her hands through her wallet to get some cash. She handed the bills to the guy when their hands touched causing Serine to look up and met the guy's eyes. That moment Serine felt her heart skipped a beat. She mentally slapped herself to stop staring, because this guy behind the counter is just damn good looking. Good looking enough to get a proper job, not a job like this. Not a job behind the counter accepting bills and prepare orders.
