Into the groove

>newt<

Today I woke up and Alaska wasn't there. I panicked. But then I remembered.

I got up and found jinx sleeping on her pillow.

I ran my fingers through my floppy hair and wandered through her room.

My body was tense and sore, my limp slightly worse from the pain.

I didn't want to train today. I didn't want to do anything.

We'd been back for about a week, and things had automatically gone back to normal. No funerals. No acknowledging those who were lost.

It bothered me yet I was glad.

I pulled some loose fitting clothes onto my body and left. Wandering through the tunnels.

Ratchet and jaxx met me in the hall, ratchets russet hair had grown cover his eyes, and jaxx walked without a word. He was still mourning over Thalia, but I knew he'd get better.

We'd all lost a lot in that battle.

Jaxx said goodbye to us after a few minutes.

"What?" I asked confused as he moved down the hackers tunnel. "Where are you going?"

"He got himself transferred," ratchet murmured. "He wants to be a hacker now. Probably to feel close to her..."

I nodded and ratchet and I moved in silence.

Even though i knew ratchet was upset over Alaska, he'd been a good friend to me. Helping me get over the crap with maze- who was locked up still, get into the motion of training the troop by myself, he'd sort of been MY right hand.

I appreciated that. But after all this time, after everything we'd been through.

I missed Thomas. I missed Minhoe, and Teresa and Gally and Brenda who'd left with them.

"Stop moping and let's go," ratchet mumbled, tugging on my shirt as we entered the rubber room. So I did.
