“Give it back to me Char! I’m serious! Why do you keep doing this to- NO!”
I take a step back next to my Amelia, putting my hands on my knees in an attempt to catch my breath. I look toward Derek, noticing his dark brown hair sticking to his forehead. He stays completely still. Did I break him?
“You put a banana…” My twin brother whispers, with his eyes squeezed shut, “…In my pants…” he says as if it’s painful just to say.
So maybe I took one of his precious Barbie dolls. Once he figured out I was the one that took it he jumped on top of me. And the banana was right there on the table…. And unfortunately, he has a huge fear of bananas. Well, unfortunate for him. It was just a bonus for me.
“He’s going to blow!” I yell diving behind the sofa, yanking my younger sister with me.
“YOU PUT A BANANA IN MY PANTS! CHARLOTTE ROSE PARKER, YOUR ASS IS DEAD!”
Oh no. He used my full name.
“Oohh…. you’re in twouble!” my three year old sister whispers to me.
Wow. Thanks for such helpful information, Amelia.
I slowly look over the couch, a bit nervous, only to see nobody.
Did he give up? No, no. That doesn’t sound like him at all. He wouldn’t give up so easily. Where did he go?
I cautiously stand up, while looking around for any sign of my mental twin. I look down and noticed Amelia had ditched me. I stiffly walk around the couch and sit down, still looking around.
Just as I relax, I feel arms wrap around me and throw me over their shoulder.
“AHHHH! DEREK!”
I feel vibration go through his back, quickly realizing he is laughing at me. I hear a door open to the outside, and I lift my head, questioning where he would take me.
“DON’T YOU DARE, DEREK! IM SO, SO VERY SORRY FOR PUTTING A BANANA IN YOUR PANTS! PLEASE DON’T THROW ME IN THE POOL! I BEG OF YOU!” I yell as I begin thrashing around in attempt of getting out of his grip. As much as I hate to say it, I know, even if it is winter here, nothing would stop him.
As he comes to a stop he says, with an evil grin, “Too late,” and I am soon enveloped in the cold water. I kick up to the surface, as soon as I touch the bottom. As I break the surface, I take in a gulp of air, letting out a loud shriek.
“OH MOTHER OF KIT KATS, DEREK!”
I jump out of the pool, quicker than I knew possible. I send a look of disbelief at my brother, only to find him on the ground in giggles. Out of every person in the world, I’m stuck with Derek as a twin.
“Derek, Derek, Derek.” I say in a disappointing tone, while tying my long brown, now wet, hair in a hair band. I look at him, only to see him with a scared expression on his face. Ha! Not so funny anymore is it?
Before he can do anything, I push him in the water. I soon see Derek’s head arise from the water, with a look that could kill. I smile sheepishly.
“I love you?”
“Run.” My brother replies menacingly.
Without being told twice, I run into the family home. As soon as I close the door, I sprint up stairs, trying my hardest to not slip. I hear my brother quickly approaching me behind, due to the increased volume of his curses toward me. I run into my room, thanking the heavens my mom and dad installed a lock into my room last week.
“Charlotte. Let me in.” I hear my brother says sweetly.
“Um, how about no?” I reply just as sweet.
