This is stupid. The thought ran again and again. There is no way they could force me to kill a random stranger. Could they? Cold hands shook, clenched. Anxiety, fear. They freeze and vibrate. Crushing the mind. Turing it in upon its self, armed with viscous claws and teeth of iron.
The door hissed open, its accusing glare aimed away. A finger rolled out and back.
Dead legs shook. Eyes widened impossibly further, then slammed shut in a defence against what will play out before them.
"Now." A feminine, serpentine voice scraped at the ears sending them to beg the eyes to open and forcing the stomach full with fear to leaking the throat, the mind. The body obeyed in betrayal of the mind.
The sickening smell of the metal, over-sanitized room started to blend into iron. The woman, fitted in harsh black, lead the way. Shoes click, clicked on the cold metal ground. As if they were counting the seconds as they passed, coming closer and closer.
"You have been prepped." The woman spoke. Oily fear ran out from the heart, pumping it through the veins faster, faster. Again she spoke, "If you cannot do it, you will be terminated." My legs moved forward.
A man sat bound and gagged in a metal chair. He was dressed in a sickening, clinical white, matching the walls. His eyes wide with panic, as a begging noise wrenched itself out of him. To the side was a small surgical table and sat upon it was a gun.
My hand reached for its cool metal, strange, yet horribly familiar. I lifted the gun. My life or his. The thought pulsed through me. I pulled the trigger.
The woman clapped her hands and said, "Congratulations, you are now one of us."
