~Melody's Point of View~

Taylor handed me my bags and I walked away with a huge grin on my face, not saying a word. I know, I said I didn't need a boyfriend but damn he's hot. He's also really cheesy, but funny. I love it!

We went our separate ways. I went to pick up the rental car my "dad" rented for me. Next on the agenda was to find the house he rented for us until MAGCON next week.

I walked up to the two story, light brick house and set my bags down on the porch. Glancing around, I noticed the basketball hoop, the big driveway, the three car garage, and the few large houses on the cul-de-sac. The shudders were dark blue and the windows had white curtains across them.

I stepped through the door and looked around the spacious house. The stairs to the second floor were straight ahead. There was a formal living room to my left and a dark gray dining room to my right. I picked up my bags and wandered a little further, past a door which I assume was to the basement, and saw a large family room with a big tv and a fireplace. To my left was a hallway with a bathroom, office looking room, and another door to the formal living room I saw from the main door. To my right was a kitchen with an island that flowed into another room with a chest freezer, a bathroom, and a storage area.

I walked into the room past the kitchen and opened the door immediately to my right. That's where I found Bart, waxing his Corvette.

Of course, he has a really expensive car, is that where the child support money went?

"Where's my room?"

"Oh I didn't see you there, you must be Melody. It's so nice to meet you!"

"It's nice to meet you too," I stammered. I didn't know what to say, and I knew I shouldn't worry about impressing this piece of crap "dad," but part of me needed acceptance from him. I didn't need to be rejected from him twice. And I might as well make the best of this because I am going to be spending the summer here.

"Your room is right at the top of the stairs. Oh, I almost forgot, we are having company over for dinner in about two hours. I hope you brought something nice," he said then nodded encouragingly towards the stairs.

I got to my room and the walls had a slight tint of mint green to them. The bed spread was a sky blue as well as the curtains. Except the curtains had mint greens flowers on them. There was a dresser, a queen size bed, and a walk in closet right next to the bathroom, which was the same theme as the bedroom.

I lied down on the bed. I ended up taking a nap because I'm lazy, but let's blame it on jet lag. When I woke up, I took a quick shower and straightened my hair. I applied some foundation, eyeliner and mascara, then put on one of my summer dresses I had been dying to wear. It had a dark pink belt and a lacy top. The skirt part was a dark and light pink floral pattern. I put in gold earrings along with a gold bracelet and threw on some white sandals.

I looked at the time. I had a few minutes before dinner, so I hopped downstairs and grabbed an apple because I didn't know how long it would be until everyone got here.

I was about halfway done with my apple when I heard the doorbell ring. I didn't know where Bart had wondered off too so I just went to answer it.

I swung open the door to be greeted by a face i never thought I would see. I dropped my apple right there on the floor from shock.
