Chapter 1

Breathless .

My Chest tightened as i took in a cold icy breath.                                                                                                   My Long pale arms wrapped around me , hugging me , to at least get some warmth out of it .

 My teeth started to chatter and my body began to shake . 

" Please , Let me go " I tried to scream but it came out as a whisper .                                                                                                           The Man who was beside me making sure i wasn't about to run just laughed and my weak attempt to talk . I shivered as the light snow began to fall again . My feet already buried underneath 6 inches of it . I Heard a noise behind me and turned . The Creatures in all there power and migth had brougth in more girls to be chosen .

I looked around the meadow , There were thousands of them all lurking in the shadows . Out of reach of the treacherous sunlight i adore . Staring at us like we were pieces of meat . And we are to them . I heard about this day before , i never thougth it would ever happen to me . Its were 60 girls run for their freedom . Only 20 go free but the rest of them are taken home to be slaves , Mates , or even a sex toy . Theres 40 of the male Vampires on the other side of the meadow , well theres supposed to be but right now their is only 39 . i never really believed in the myth , untill now that is .

I remember my mother and father sitting me down near the fire and explaining to me carefully not to go outside on this very date , 1st of December every year . I have been doing that so . But today i just forgot , i was walking to my mom and dads grave with fake flowers that dont die , that just stay pretty and live forever like i wish they did . They Died this time last year in a car crash , and thats why i forgot . I was only 17 at the time , about to turn 18 . I had a big fight with them before they went christmas shopping . I never had the chance to tell them goodbye and that i loved them . I tear rolled down my cheek i didn't bother to wipe it , i knew it was already frozen . 

I looked around i was the only person doing nothing . All the other woman were crying , fighting and screaming . I shook my head at them , dont they know that its not going to help . It caused all the male vampire's to stare in wonder at me , I wasn't an alien . Was i ..?  Hhmm , i never thought about it . Most licked their lips , i shuddered at the thought of what they migth be thinking . 

When a glass breaking scream rang out , everyone turned towards it . I flinched at what i saw . Just a younge girl around my age being drained by what seems to be the king and queen . I gasped as she fell to the floor like a plank of wood . The king wiped his mouth and smiled " Now that i have your attention i want to introduce myself , I am King Redmond and this is My Queen Sienna " .              They both bowed and all the vampires cheered and clapped . 

The Queen suddenly said " Now , Today is your lucky day ladies , for today My son is participating in this activity , Introduce yourself keegan " Her hand pointed out to the other side of the meadow where all the other 39 male vampires were . When he stepped out it was the full 40 .

It was a good distance between them and us , i will have no problem getting away , i think .                    He smiled mischiefly and said out loud for us human to hear " Why hello ladies , Im prince Keegan and im looking forward to be bringing one very special lady home to be , My Queen "                             This ' Game ' As they call it will be starting in a minute , when its twilight and the sun goes down .                It stopped snowing and everyone was quite , except for the middle aged woman who are crying , saying that they have children and are married . " Shut up " The blood suckers said to them , some of them got hit and some got a hand over there mouth . The Vampire that was behind me grabbed my hands and holded me back . Infact thats what all the vampire were doing to us .

I stared at the sun going down and whispered "  20 ... 19 ... 18 ... 17 ... 16 ... 15 ... 14 ... 13 ...12 ... 11 ... 10 "                                                                                                                                                                         Every one was staring at me , The King and Queen Caugth my eye . I looked straight in front of me . Staring in to the eyes of the prince . His eyes were purple and familiar like i have seen them before . I lifted right my hand to my necklace that i got when i was younger off a boy in the woods , squeezed it tightly and shut my eyes and continued " 9 ... 8 ... 7 ... 6 ... 5 ... 4 ... 3 ... 2 ... 1 "  

A Loud bell rang in the air and The King shouted  " Go " .                                                                                  I ran as fast as i could , One vampire grabbed me but i kneed him in the nuts , My breath coming out in short gasps as i push myself to run faster away . I entered the dark , damp forest and ran untill i couldn't take it any longer and stopped . The screams and shouts fading in the backround as i walked further into the forest . My foot steps matching the beat of the grasshoppers Wings .                       I then came across a river i heard a noise behind me and got scared alittle . I turned around and felt like someone was watching me . 

I took a deep breath and Shut my eyes tightly together and went for it .                                                       As i hit the water i swore i would die of frost bite , I felt the riverbed beneath my feet and kicked up .   As I reached the surface i couldn't see . my hair was covering my eyes . I didn't care i swam to the other side . I got out panting like crazy . I tried to get up from the ground but failed miserably , i fell on my stomach and started to cough . My throat burning from making contact with the snow . I curled in to a ball , Giving up , i was to cold .

" This is it " I Whispered to myself . " What , Is it " I heard a husky voice say from behind me . Terrified , i tried to look behind me but i couldn't , Suddenly arms snaked their way around my body and i was lifted up against a freezing body . " Vampire " I whispered . I Looked up and saw the Prince . " Prince Keegan " I said Shocked . " Yes , My Princess " He replied . Then ran as fast as the speed of light . I felt the darkness take over me and i fell asleep . Bad Move to do that when your in the arms of a vampire .
