Christine could not believe the nerve of that man. To think that she would go out on a date with him was just out of the question. She did not know Christopher that well, and maybe he was actually kind of nice, but still to go out with him was just ridiculous. Wasn't it? I don't know she said under her breath as she pulled into the garage. Maybe just maybe I should take a chance, who knows maybe I will finally find love.

As Christine unlocked the door she saw that the living room light was on and that her father had fallen asleep on the couch waiting up for her. She didn't want to wake him up so she quietly covered him with a shawl and turned the light off and headed down the hall to her room. Sleep came to her deep in the night hours with dreams of fairy tales and love dancing around in her head. When she woke it was half past 9 and it was raining outside.

As Christine walked down the hall toward the kitchen she smelled breakfast cooking. Her father must be already up now all she needed was a strong cup of coffee and the morning paper which should be on the front porch. As Christine opened the front door not only was her newspaper waiting there for her but a box of 12 beautiful long stem roses as well. The note that came with the roses simply said from a secret admirer.

Hum a secret admirer. I wonder who that could be Christine said. Oh well, guess I will find out soon enough. Christine brought her paper and the roses into the house and found a vase to put the flowers in. Her father was watching her the whole time with a little grin on his face. So, who are the flowers from? he asked. I don't know the card simply said from a secret admirer.I found them just now when I went to get the paper. They are beautiful, aren't they? Although for the life of me I can not think of who my secret admirer could be unless it is that boy Christopher that I met on the beach last night and asked me for a date. Surely he wouldn't, I mean really, no way it couldn't be him, could it?

With that, Christine took her flowers and went to her room. She could not believe that she had a secret admirer. Whatever was she going to do? She had never had a secret admirer before. At 12 o'clock that day there came a knock on the door. Christine opened the door and there stood the funniest man in a costume that Christine had ever see. The man began to sing and to dance for Christine. ''You are invited to come to Jenkins bookstore for a private reading of the famous author that is worldwide known. Be there at 2 o'clock sharp in your formal attire,'' the young man sang. He then handed Christine a long stem rose, turned on his heels and strolled with a smile down the walkway.

Christine was dumbfounded. She didn't know what to think of what just went on.She slowly shut the door and went into the kitchen where her father was making lunch.'' Who was that at the door and where did you get the rose from?'' he asked.'' Well, you are not going to believe this but that was a singing telegram at the door it would seem I have been invited to the bookstore for a special reading. He gave me the rose too. Can you believe this, first I get a dozen roses and now not only do I get another rose but a singing telegram to boot. How romantic.''

''I just do not know what I am going to wear to this reading. The telegram said formal attire. Guess I had better go look in my closet to see if I can find something to wear, if not I will just have to go shopping.''Christine said. She found herself ever so excited. More than she had ever been in her life. She must hurry, for the reading was to be at 2 o'clock sharp, it was now 1 o'clock.

Christine hurriedly went to her room and threw open her closet door and to her horror, there was not a dress to be found inside. Oh no! she yelled, this just will not do at all. I must find something to wear but what? It was then that her father came into her room carrying the most beautiful dress that Christine had ever seen.

Here, this was your mothers' dress. She wore it on our first date together, I thought that one day it would come in handy and so I kept it. It is yours now and I think that now would be the perfect time for you to wear it.

Oh, father, it is beautiful. Thank you so much. I will put it on right away and fix my hair and put makeup on. oh, I'm so excited, I just can't contain myself.Oh I must hurry, time is running out it is 1;30 pm, that leaves 30 minutes to get ready and get to the bookstore.

Christine did what she could to hurry and get dressed. No matter how quickly she was it seemed that the time just went by way to fast, and before she knew it, it was 2 o'clock. Oh no, she said. I am late, I must go now, and with that, she was out the door driving away down the street as fast as she could.
