Prologue: A New Beginning

Prologue to a New Beginning

It has finally happened. The world has ended. Me and my friends are the last survivors on Earth. We have been traveling for days looking for the one thing that could get us off this planet. The Ancient Portal. The Ancient Portal can take us anywhere in the universe we want but it only works once. No one has ever been able to find it, but after 2 months of searching we have finally found it, because for some reason it was under Sally and Xander's house, which explains why it was supposedly "haunted". We don't know where we are going to go or how the portal works, but we decided to have a meeting in the morning to discuss where we would go. My name is John Hugo and my friends, Ceecee Silver, Sally and Xander Lovegood, Angie Niger, Seth and Natasha Kousoko, and Bryce Falcon. We are all outside sleeping in front of the Sally and Xander's house waiting for morning to come.

Snoooorrre. I woke up with a start. "Yeah,still not used to that", I said with a sigh. I looked towards where the snore had come from and saw that it was just Xander. From what I could tell it was still a good two hours before morning but something felt off. I looked around our circle of sleeping bags and saw that everyone was still asleep, but as I was about to lie back down Sally sat up from her spot and started speaking in her weird prediction voice, " She is up and is heading towards the portal". I quickly got up and went over to her and asked in the calmest voice I could, "WHO, WHO IS GOING TO THE PORTAL!!!!!". "Natasha", she said before falling back to sleep. "Oh shit", I said as I looked around the camp. It looked like everyone was in their sleeping bags, but then I heard the front door to the house open up and I saw Natasha walking through. I yelled at the top of my lungs, " EVERYONE WAKE UP!!!!!". The first one to sit up was Bryce, followed by Ceecee, Sally, Seth, and Angie. Unfortunately, Xander didn't hear me because he was still snoring. I tried for two minutes to wake him up. I tried slapping him, waving bacon in front of his nose( that always worked for me!!), cold water, hot water, basically anything you can imagine. Then Ceecee tried and he immediately jumps up and says "Where is it!!!". "What did you say to him", I asked curiously and angrily at the same time. "I said Link gave him a Master Sword" she responded. I then face-palmed myself, "Why didn't I think of that!!!". "Anyways", I said, " Natasha is sleep walking towards the portal in the basement and we need to stop her NOW!!". Everyone quickly ran towards the house and into the basement where we found that Natasha hadn't gone through the portal yet. As we were about to go down and pull her back outside the portal changed to a shape I thought was out of my mind forever. The portal that Twilight had gone through in Equestria Girls. You know what I'm talking about when I say that menacing mirror had haunted my dreams for a month after that movie. Then Natasha walks right through it. Now my mind was working through something that I don't understand. If you walk through the Equestria side of the portal it leads to the human world, but if you walk through the human side you go back to Equestria. But that was in the show and it wasn't real, so does that mean th-. My thought was cut off as I was pushed through the portal as everyone tried to grab her. As we went through, the first thing to run through my mind was (oh crap I'm going to be turned into some orange skinned high schooler. Second thing was, wait is this necessarily a bad thing? I mean we could become cartoons!! Cartoons never die!). It didn't help that we hadn't had a decent meal in about a week and I couldn't think straight and the portal was giving me the worst headache ever. Then, all of a sudden there was a flash and everything changed back into solid ground. After a few moments, I thought it would be a good idea to stand up. NEVER STAND UP QUICKLY WHEN COMING OUT OF A PORTAL TO ANOTHER UNIVERSE. It hurts like heck, but that was when I realized that one of my hypotheses was right. I wasn't an orange skinned high schooler like in Equestria Girls. I was ..... an orange skinned pony from My Little Pony. I was about to turn around and yell at my friends for just rushing through the portal when I noticed three things had happened. One, the portal was smashed to pieces, Two, we were inside Canterlot castle, and three all my friends had been turned into foals!! "What the frack happened!!!", I yelled out loud, "This is shouldn't have happened! The portal was supposed to let us keep our human forms!".
"And what, pray tell is a human?" Said a calm voice behind me.
The voice had originated from the end of the hallway and there stood a mare with a dark blue mane and a Cutie Mark of the crescent moon. It was Luna, Princess of the night, and co-ruler of Equestria!
"I have never seen an orange Alicorn like you in the castle before, and how do you know what a human is if only me and the other three princesses know of them?" She said thankfully not yelling at me in the Royal Canterlot Voice. ( for those who don't know, imagine that entire sentence in Caps Lock, yeah opposite of calm right? Anyways. Back to the story.)
"I'm a what?" I said as I picked up a piece of broken glass. The reflection staring back at me was, as Luna described it, an orange Alicorn stallion. I dropped the shard in amazement. I looked over at my friends and saw that none of them had been turned into Alicorns with me so it must have been some mixup in the ponyfication process.
"Look this is gonna sound crazy princess, but me and my friends just came through that portal because out world ended and is in utter ruins. I have a feeling that I don't have enough time to explain in detail what happened, but would you be willing to help me get these foals and fillys somewhere cleaner?" I said as quickly as I could.
"Absolutely!" Luna said.
We gathered them up using magic (when did I learn to do that?!) and took them to library. We set them on the table and explained to the princess that no one must know of our origins except her and Celestia.
"Princess I need you to send them each to one of the Elements of Harmony in Ponyville. The one on top of the Photo Finish magazine, needs to go to Rarity and should be named Jade Belle. The two sitting next to each other looking off into nothingness, they need to go to Pinkie Pie, the boy will be named Link Pie and the girl should be named Vanilla Pie. The two that are gawking at the Wonderbolts poster, should go to Rainbow Dash, and the girl should be named Sparkle Dash and the boy Storm Dash. The one Pegasus that is running in circles, needs to go to Applejack and should be named Captain Jack. The one that is staring at Celestia's Phoenix needs to be sent to Fluttershy and should be named Snowy Meadow. Do you understand?".
Luna looked confused for a moment and then asked "And for yourself?".
"My real name was John Hugo, but for here send me to Twilight Sparkle. My new name will be.... Orion Sparkle." I said, "notify your sister of everything I have told you and send advance letters to the ponies I've specified, not telling our origins, but maybe that we were abandoned by our real parents. It's better if they are not told the truth until we are adults. I have a feeling that once I'm turned into a foal all my memories will be erased and I will not remember any of this." I said as I steadily walked to the princess with my head down , " I don't know why the portal broke, but if that's the case then there is no going back to where we came from."
"Do not worry. We will take care of everything." She said in almost a sad tone.
Then from out of nowhere I felt a strange sensation start in my head and suddenly Luna was much taller than before. I remember nothing after this.
