As soon as I woke up the next day, I grabbed the little capsule and put it in my pocket. Nothing new, thankfully, had happened with Andrew over the night. He leaned down into the car like the day before and pulled on his seatbelt. He sat there, patiently waiting for me. He seemed calm about the whole thing.
"Are you scared that you coughed this up?" I questioned as the car pulled onto the road.
"No. I can't. Also, they'll know what to do," he smiled.
I nodded. Here I was with the falling-apart robot comforting me. Oh, how times have changed.
I got out of the car once it was parked at the mall. Once Andrew stepped out, I locked the car and began walking towards the building. Andrew walked beside me until we got to the door. He began to walk in front of me once we began to get close to the door. He opened the door for me, making me smile.
"I saw you hold the door for Fawn yesterday," he explained. I chuckled softly and walked inside. He found his way back to my side and we walked towards the store. The interior of the store displayed different ranges of orange. It was too much for the eyes, but I wasn't a professional decorator.
I walked up to the desk, waiting for a worker to come out. "What can I do for ya?" A brunette asked after a minute of waiting. I looked over at her before reaching into my pocket.
"Yeah," I responded before pinching the capsule between my fingers. I put it on the table before explaining to her, "My robot coughed this up last night. I'm not sure if it's important or not."
She looked down at the capsule and slid it closer to herself to get a better look. Her eyebrows furrowed at it before she leaned back up. "I'm not too sure what it is myself. Let me go get my manager," she told me. She walked away, taking the capsule with her.
I looked over at Andrew and shrugged. I looked over at the different spots that explained each program before offering, "You can look around and see if anything interests you." He took my suggestion and walked off. I watched him until I heard footsteps behind the counter. I turned around to see a man along with the girl. He now held the capsule.
"You say that that your robot coughed this up?" He asked me, his voice holding a bit of a rude tone to it. I couldn't quite place it but it seemed like it was there. I nodded and his eyes went up to Andrew. "Has he been experiencing blackouts or acting confused as to why you own him?" He further asked. I frowned at his question but nodded. He sighed softly before nodding towards Andrew.
"He's going to need to go to the back with us for about an hour. We'll get this thing put back in and he won't be experiencing any of those symptoms anymore. It'll cost fifty dollars though," he informed me.
"Yeah, okay. That's fine," I told him. I called Andrew over to where I was and explained to him what was going to happen. "I'll be back in an hour," I promised and watched him walk into the back with the workers.
I passed the time in the rest of the mall. While sipping on a soda, it wasn't hard to pass the time. I came back an hour later and found the girl I'd been talking to earlier. She looked up at me and lost her smile. She leaned up from the counter where she had been relaxing while talking to someone. I walked over to the counter as she walked to the back. Instead of her coming out with Andrew, the manager did. I looked over at Andrew and saw the same lifeless face he'd held at lunch the day before.
"All done," the manager smiled, throwing me off a little. I forced a smile before turning to Andrew.
"Ready to go?" I asked him.
He turned to me and nodded. "Yes," he answered. I waited for a smile but never received one. I frowned slightly but let it slide. I turned around and began to walk. I made sure Andrew was following me and headed out to my car. I opened my door but paused when I saw Andrew standing there. "Where would you like me to sit?" He asked.
I frowned before resting my hand on the top of the car. "The front, of course," I answered. He got in once I answered, confusing me more. What had they done to him? I was definitely going to look this up on the internet once I got home. It didn't seem normal for a robot to black out, cough up anything, and lose their memory when a store "fixed" them. Hell, even the workers acted weird. The girl couldn't look me in the face.
