Myron sat playing video games with Harper, his girlfriend. They were both smiling, enjoying life when Ari walked in with a face like thunder. "Please turn that down." Myron remembered a time many years ago when he and Ari were playing video games and getting told by their father to turn the volume down. The twins lock eyes, and Myron slowly turns up the volume, "geez, so immature." the words stung, but at a level he was happy that he still had some love of life. After his brother left the room he turned the volume down, Harper gave her Boyfriend a quizical look.
"He's under alot of pressure, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to aggravate him." he said still fully focused on the game. She smiled at the sentiment behind the seemily cruel gesture.
"I think you're too nice to him..." she trailed off.
"He's ... He's been through alot recently, It wouldn't help him."
They went back to playing.***
A few hours later Myron and Harper were sat downstairs on the sofa watching steven universe together, without a single word Ari went past them into the kitchen. In a matter of minutes Ari placed two hot chocolates on to the coffee table with a small note that read: "Thank you for turning the volume down.
-Ari.
P.S. Enjoy the drinks"
Then he was gone back upstairs with a third mug most likely filled with coffee.
Myron watched Harper's face light up "Oh my god, this tastes great!"
"My brother has his faults but he can make a great hot chocolate"They continued watching their show until she had to go home, Myron felt happy, a day with his girlfriend and a genuinely kind gesture from his brother. Nothing could take away that ecstatic feeling in that moment.
