Josh and I were talking and I had no idea what to say. I can't believe Jenni never told me that he was friends with Josh! I crutched back to my chair and plopped onto my seat. Too embarrassed to talk, I worked on the bell ringer that was up on the board. I noticed that Josh sat at Jenni's group, which was next to my group. They were chit-chatting and whatnot. Wanting to be in on the conversation, I nonchalantly moved to their group. I sat in between Jenni and Josh, using Jenni as an excuse to sit next to Josh.

What am I doing? I thought, This is going to get nowhere, he has a GIRLFRIEND for crying out loud.

But... Nothing wrong with being friends...right?

I incorporated myself into the conversation. They were talking about plans for lunch later. I had made plans with my best friend, Vanessa. I decided to tell them about my lunch plans as well.

"All right class, enough with the chit-chat, Samantha, go back to your seat."

Defeated, I went back to my seat. At least I was able to make myself known, I thought.

We started to get into the groove of school. My ankle was getting better and I was finally off crutches on the second week of school.

**************

Anatomy and physiology, which was the class I was taking with Josh, was a struggle. I was lost half the time during that class. Asking the teacher questions was no help either. She would always help the cheerleaders instead. Yup, she was that type of teacher. I would go talk to Jenni so she could help me. It seemed like Josh was understanding the content, thus he would help both of us. This meant I would leave Joe behind in my own group, which would eventually make him gravitate to the other group as well.

"I don't understand this at all!" I stated with frustration.

"That's because you're stupid." Stated Joe with a smirk on his face.

I glared at him," Why are you always making mean remarks at me? What did I ever do to you?"

"Nothing, just stating what I think," He replied.

Jenni was quiet. She didn't want to get on Joe's bad side. Unlike Jenni, I would always protest when Joe said something mean, which would feed fuel to the fire. It would get so irritating, I was fed up with Joe. Joe knew when to bully me, too. He made sure that no one noticed, other than Jenni. He knew Jenni wouldn't say anything.

The bell rung for the next class and I was relieved that we were out for lunch.

"I'm sorry I don't say anything to Joe. I honestly think he has a thing for you." Jenni stated.

"Well if he did, he is being completely childish," I replied, rolling my eyes.

As we were walking to the lunch room, Jenni skipped in front of me to stop me. She then leaned over to me and whispered in excitement, "I have some great news for you though!" She was smirking and I knew she expected me to get it out of her.

"What is it?" I looked at her with a slight smile.

"Josh and his girlfriend broke up!" She exclaimed.
